Critical reception

Portland Mercury called the album "one of the finest releases in the storied history of Amphetamine Reptile Records." [4] The Seattle Times wrote that "the songs ... explode like pop supernovas - the music is packed so densely that it bursts into massive fireballs of rage." [5] Gimme Indie Rock: 500 Essential American Underground Rock Albums 1981-1996 called Into the Vortex "among the most intense and enjoyable albums to come out of indie rock's less friendly back streets." [6]

After six albums and various lineup changes, the band disbanded in 1994. The band's original lineup would reform in 2018, sans Brown due to his death in 1999.

King Bee was an American band formed in Portland, Oregon, United States in 1976 and consisted of Fred Cole on vocals and guitar, Mark Sten on bass and Pat Conner on drums. Cole had sung and written songs for bands such as The Weeds, and Zipper, but King Bee marked his debut as a guitarist. According to Cole's wife Toody, the band initially sounded "grungy, rhythm and bluesy, swampy" but "happened to get a spot playing in Portland on the bill with The Ramones the first time they came through." King Bee was inspired by the high-energy punk sounds of The Ramones, and in 1978 released the low fidelity single "Hot Pistol" on Cole's Whizeagle label. However, the band soon folded, and Cole's frustration with short-lived lineups led him to teach his wife Toody how to play bass, leading to the formation of The Rats and later Dead Moon.

Halo of Flies rock band

Halo of Flies was an American noise rock band from Minneapolis. Named after an Alice Cooper song from Killer, Halo of Flies was formed in 1986 by Tom Hazelmyer, John Anglim and Tim Mac. Over the next five years they released a series of seven inch singles and mini LPs starting with a limited edition, hand numbered single called “Rubber Room”. These singles were released on Hazelmyer’s label Amphetamine Reptile Records and were later compiled on a CD in 1991. The band partially reformed in 2007 under the name H•O•F, and continued to release new material.

Wammo is an album by New Zealand band Bailter Space, released in 1995. Matador will reissue the album on vinyl for its 25th anniversary.
