Ioan Horga is a Romanian university professor of international relations and European studies and dean of the faculty of history,international relations,political science and communication science of the University of Oradea. He is also director of the Institute of Euro-Regional Studies Oradea/Debrecen,a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence. He holds a Jean Monnet Chair in Euro-Regional Studies since 2002. [1] He is also Vice President of Romanian Association for International Relations and European Studies (ARRISE). [2] Since 2017 he is director of a Jean Monnet Network on the European Union and its neighbourhood,whose aim is to enhance the EU's actorness in the eastern borderlands. [3]
Horga studied history at Babes Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca,graduating in 1980 with the highest GPA of his class. [4] He worked briefly as a high school teacher,before working for five years at the Directorate of the School of the Committee of the Union of Communist Youth in Bihor County. [5] After the Romanian Revolution of 1989,he went back to work as a high school teacher until he joined the University of Oradea in 1993. [6] In 1995 he obtained a doctorate in history from University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne,with a thesis on the Romanian Greek Catholic Church (United with Rome) of Transylvania during the Enlightenment Era:The episcopate of Oradea (1780-1830),under the supervision of Viviane Barrie-Curien. [7] [8] He thus became the first Romanian national to obtain a doctoral degree abroad after the 1989 Revolution. [9]

Călin Georgescu is a Romanian senior expert in sustainable development,with an acknowledged recognition in the field,following 17 years of service in the environmental area in the United Nations system. Georgescu was appointed the executive director of the United Nations Global Sustainable Index Institute in Geneva and Vaduz for the period 2015–2016. Prior to that,he served as President of the European Research Centre for the Club of Rome (2013–2015). He is also member of the Club of Rome International in Switzerland.

Ioan Dzițac was a Romanian professor of mathematics and computer science. He obtained his B.S. and M.Sc. in Mathematics (1977) and PhD in Computer Science (2002) from Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca. He was a professor at the Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad and part of the leadership of Agora University in Oradea until his sudden death in 2021.
Sorin Mihai Cîmpeanu is a Romanian politician who served as Minister of Education in CiucăCabinet. He had previously held the same position in Ponta IV and Cîțu cabinets,and,between 5 and 17 November 2015,acted as Prime Minister of Romania,after President Klaus Iohannis accepted Prime Minister Ponta's resignation. Klaus Iohannis's appointment of Sorin Cîmpeanu was just a stopgap measure until a new candidate for the post was selected.

In December 2014 Carpinschi was awarded the 2012 Mircea Florian prize of the Romanian Academy for his book on recognition culture and human security,and its contribution to the development of Romanian culture and science in the fields of philosophy,theology,psychology and pedagogy.
Alexandru Nazare is a Romanian politician,Minister of Finance of Romania between December 2020 and July 2021,senator elected in the 2020 parliamentary elections and the special representative of the Romanian Government for Romania's candidacy for hosting the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre,2020. Previously in 2012,he held the position of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure and in December 2008,he became the youngest representative of Romania in the European Parliament.

Presidential elections will be held in Romania on 15 September 2024,with an eventual second round to be held on 29 September. They will be the ninth presidential elections held in post-1989 Romania. As the Romanian Constitution allows a maximum of two presidential terms,incumbent President of Romania Klaus Iohannis,first elected in 2014 and then re-elected in 2019,is not eligible for re-election. His second term will normally end in December 2024.
