The Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, also known as AIMAG, is a pancontinental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia, after the merger of the Asian Indoor Games and the Asian Martial Arts Games. The Games are organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games are described as the second largest Asian multi-sport event after the Asian Games.

2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

The 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which is also counted as the 5th Asian Indoor Games, was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2017. It became the third city in the former Soviet countries to win the right of hosting an Olympic Council of Asia-sanctioned event, following Astana and Almaty in Kazakhstan, which jointly-hosted the 2011 Asian Winter Games. The host city was chosen in Kuwait on 19 December 2010. On 6 July 2013 the flag of the Olympic Council of Asia was officially handed over to the mayor of the city of Ashgabat.

Indoor athletics competition at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games was held from 18–20 September 2017, at the Indoor Athletics Arena. 25 medal events were contested over three days - 13 for men, 12 for women in the absence of a women's pole vault.

3x3 basketball was featured in the Asian Indoor Games and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games official programme in 2009, and since 2017. The inaugural staging of 3x3 basketball was seen in 2007, as a demonstration sport. The programme includes 2 events. The FIBA and FIBA Asia are the world and continental respectively governing body.

Chen Linglong is a Chinese taekwondo practitioner. He is a silver medalist at the Asian Games and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. He is also a gold medalist at the Asian Taekwondo Championships.
