The Philippines participated in the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from 17-27 September 2017. [1]
The Philippine delegation competed in 17 out of 21 sports in the 10-day event, with over 105 athletes joining the games, led by 2016 Summer Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz. [1] [2] Diaz was initially announced as the country's flagbearer but she declined. [3] The chef de mission of the delegation was Monsour Del Rosario. [4]
At the end of the games, the Philippine team brought home 30 medals, including two jiu-jitsu golds, the best performance the country has ever performed in the history of Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
The country also competed at electronic sports which was a demonstration event [5] participating in all four video games contested. The country secured a bronze medal in Dota 2 .

The Philippines competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The country was represented by 15 athletes, 10 men and 5 women, who competed in 17 events across 8 sports.
The Philippines has competed in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games since its debut in the 1924 edition, except when they participated in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. Filipino athletes have also competed at the Winter Olympic Games on five occasions since 1972.
Hidilyn Francisco Diaz is a Filipina weightlifter and airwoman, the first Filipino to ever win an Olympic gold medal for the Philippines. She is also an Olympic weightlifting record holder by winning the women's 55 kg category for weightlifting at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, also known as AIMAG, is a pancontinental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia, after the merger of the Asian Indoor Games and the Asian Martial Arts Games. The Games are organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games are described as the second largest Asian multi-sport event after the Asian Games.

The host city was chosen in Kuwait on 19 December 2010. On 6 July 2013 the flag of the Olympic Council of Asia was officially handed over to the mayor of the city of Ashgabat.

The Philippines contingent was composed of 497 athletes, 163 sporting officials and 70 administrative and medical staff who competed in 37 out of the 38 sports. The Philippines finished the 29th SEA Games in 6th place with a medal haul of 23 Golds, 33 Silvers and 64 Bronze which is the country's worst finish in 18 years. The next edition of the Southeast Asian Games was hosted by the Philippines in 2019.
The Philippines competed at the 30th Southeast Asian Games which was hosted by them from 30 November to 11 December 2019. This was the fourth time that the country hosted the biennial meet. The country placed 1st again in the medal tally with 149 gold medals, 36 higher than the 23rd SEA Games in 2005 wherein the Philippines also hosted and placed 1st and 51 higher than Vietnam.

Kiribati competed at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from September 17-27. Kiribati sent a delegation of 12 competitors in 3 different sports. Kiribati couldn't receive any medal at the Games.
The 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, officially known as the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and also known as Bangkok–Chonburi 2021, is scheduled to be a pan-Asian multi-sport event in indoor and martial arts sports held from 17 to 26 November 2023 in the Thai capital city, Bangkok and the province of Chonburi. Originally due to take place from 21 to 30 May 2021, the event was postponed in January 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) officially awarded the games to Bangkok and Chonburi Province and signed the hosting rights contract in April 2020.

During the Parade of Nations at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games opening ceremony, beginning at 19:00 PST (UTC+8) on 30 November 2019, athletes bearing the flags of their respective nations led their national delegations as they paraded into the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, preceded by their flag and placard bearer. Each flag bearer was chosen either by the nation's National Olympic Committee or by the athletes themselves. The host country, the Philippines, entered as the last team. 11 Filipina titleholders served as muses for each of the 11 participating countries.
Julius Irvin Hikaru T. Naranjo is a Guamanian weightlifter, coach, and filmmaker. He competed for Guam in the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and coaches Filipino Olympic weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz.
