The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every fourth year among athletes from all over Asia. The Games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation (AGF) from the first Games in New Delhi, India in 1951, until the 1978 Games. Since the 1982 Games, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation. The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.
The Kazakhstan men's national football team represents Kazakhstan in men's international football and it is governed by the Kazakhstan Football Federation. They split from the Soviet Union national football team after independence in 1991 and joined the Asian Football Confederation's Central Asian Football Federation. After failing to qualify for the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups, they joined UEFA, but are yet to qualify for a FIFA World Cup or a UEFA European Championship.
The Saudi Arabia national football team represents Saudi Arabia in men's international football. They are known as Al-Suqour Al-Khodhur in reference to their traditional colours of green and white and represent both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The Iraq national football team represents Iraq in international football and is controlled by the Iraq Football Association (IFA), the governing body for football in Iraq. Iraq's usual home venue is the Basra International Stadium.
The Kuwait national football team is the national team of Kuwait and is controlled by the Kuwait Football Association. Kuwait made one World Cup finals appearance, in 1982, managing one point in the group stages. In the Asian Cup, Kuwait reached the final in 1976 and won the tournament in 1980.
The Jordan national football team represents Jordan in international football and is controlled by the Jordan Football Association. Jordan have never qualified for the World Cup finals but have appeared four times in the Asian Cup and reached its quarter-final stage in the 2004 and 2011 editions.
The Syria national football team represents Syria in international football, and is controlled by the Syrian Arab Federation for Football, the governing body for football in Syria. Syria has never qualified for the World Cup finals, but did reach the fourth qualification round in 2018. The team is currently banned by FIFA from playing at home, as they have not hosted a game since December 2010. Internationally, Syria won the 2012 WAFF Championship, 1957 Arab Games and the 1987 Mediterranean Games.

Pakistan became a member of FIFA in 1948 joining the Asian Football Confederation and its national team debuted in 1950.
The Arabian Gulf Cup, often referred to simply as the Gulf Cup, is a biennial football competition governed by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation for its eight member nations. The history of the competition has also seen it held every three to four years due to political or organisational problems. The reigning champions are Iraq, having won their fourth title at the 25th edition, as hosts, held in 2023.
The Iraq Stars League is the top level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraqi Division One.
Al-Shorta Sports Club is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Rusafa, Baghdad. It has teams in 18 different sports, and the best known section of the club is the football team, whose origins date back to 1932. Al-Shorta were established as a sports club after a clubs-only policy was introduced to Iraqi football in 1974.
Hussein Saeed Mohammed is an Iraqi former footballer who played as a forward and is a former president of the Iraq Football Association. Saeed is in ninth place in the list of top international goal scorers, with 78 goals. Along with Ahmed Radhi, he is considered to be the best Iraqi player of the 20th century and features in 25th place in Asia's Best Players of the Century list. Hussein is currently the Iraqi national team's highest scoring player with 78 goals.
The Asian Beach Games, also known as ABG, is a multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The Games have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games are described as the second or third largest Asian multi-sport event, after the Asian Games. Its popularity is increasing due to the low cost of temporary venues, with beaches and oceans already available, while spectators and tourists are also already available in sand and sea tourist areas.
The Iraq national basketball team represents Iraq in international basketball competitions. It is one out of only two Arab nations to ever qualify for the Men's Basketball Tournament at the Summer Olympics.
Radhi Shenaishil Swadi is a former Iraqi footballer and former coach of the Iraq national football team, and currently manages Iraq U23.
The Iraq national futsal team represents Iraq in international futsal competitions and is controlled by the Futsal Commission of the Iraq Football Association. It is one of the rising teams in Asia. As of October 2023, Iraq is ranked 42th in the Futsal World Rankings. Iraq has played in eleven AFC Futsal Championships. Its best result was fourth place in 2018. Iraq has also played at three WAFF Futsal Championships where in 2009, they won the tournament to gain their first ever title on any international stage. Iraq also played three times at the Arab Futsal Cup, finishing as runners-up in the 2022 edition.
The Tajikistan women's national football team represents Tajikistan in women's association football. The team is governed by the Tajikistan Football Federation (FFT) and competes in AFC and CAFA women's competitions. The team is currently ranked 144th in the world by FIFA.
