Asian Games appearances (overview)

Pakistan competed at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, which was held from 23 September 2023 to 8 October 2023. Originally, the event was scheduled to held in September 2022 [2] but due to COVID-19 pandemic cases rising in China the event was postponed and rescheduled to 23 September to 8 October 2023. [3] [4]

Contents

Pakistan sent a delegation of 189 athletes (comprising 136 male and 53 female) across 24 sports, along with 72 officials to the event. As on 1 October 2023. [5] [6] [7]

Kishmala Talat won Pakistan its first ever Asian Games medal in shooting. [8]

Pakistan only won three medals at these games, the fewest it has ever won at the Asian Games. [9]

The 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was a first-class domestic cricket competition that took place in Pakistan from 1 September to 8 December 2018. Following the conclusion of each match, the teams played each other in a List A fixture in the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup tournament. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited were the defending champions.

The 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup was the first edition of the Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup, a List A cricket tournament that took place in Pakistan from 6 September to 4 November 2018. Each match was played after the conclusion of the corresponding first-class fixture in the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

The 2022 Asia Cup Qualification was a men's cricket tournament which took place in Oman in August 2022 to determine qualification for the 2022 Asia Cup. The 2020 editions of the ACC Western and Eastern regional T20 tournaments were held in February and March of the same year by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Thirteen teams competed, with the aim of progressing to the qualifier. These were scheduled to be followed by the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament in Malaysia, which was due to be played in August 2020. However, in July 2020 the Asia Cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the qualifier. In May 2021, the Asian Cricket Council confirmed that there would be no Asia Cup in 2021, with that edition of the tournament deferred until 2023. It was later announced that there would be a T20I Asia Cup in 2022, to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

Pakistan competed in the 2019 South Asian Games in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal from 1 to 10 December 2019. It participated in Tennis, Table Tennis, Athletics, Handball, Taekwondo, Kabbadi, Badminton, Swimming, Karate, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Boxing, Squash, Volleyball, Judo and Wushu.

Men's cricket at the 2019 South Asian Games was held in Kirtipur, Nepal from 3 to 9 December 2019. The men's tournament featured under-23 squads from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and senior squads from Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal. India and Pakistan did not participate.

The 2020–21 National T20 Cup was a Twenty20 domestic cricket competition that was played in Pakistan. It was the seventeenth season of the National T20 Cup, and started on 30 September 2020, and finished on 18 October 2020. Northern cricket team were the defending champions. The season featured an expanded format, with an increase from 18 to 33 matches. In July 2020, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that tournament would be held either in Multan or Rawalpindi. In August 2020, it was confirmed that the first leg will be played in Multan, with the final leg being held at Rawalpindi.

2023 Pakistan Super League was the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. Then PCB chairman Ramiz Raja had hinted at an auction based system to replace the draft for the 2023 season but a draft was retained. The draft for the tournament was held on 15 December in Karachi. A total of 36 foreign players were picked alongside local players. Lahore Qalandars were the defending champions.

A women's cricket event was held as part of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from 19 to 25 September 2023. Nine teams took part in the event, and the participating teams were seeded according to their T20I rankings as of 1 June 2023.

The 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup was the fifth edition of the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. It took place from 13 to 23 July 2023 in Sri Lanka.

The Pakistan A cricket team toured Zimbabwe in May 2023 to play two first-class matches against the Zimbabwe A cricket team and six List A matches against the Zimbabwe national cricket team. In April 2023, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed the fixtures for the tour, with the matches taking place at Kwekwe, Mutare and Harare. The limited overs matches were used by Zimbabwe as preparation ahead of the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The first-class series was won by the Pakistan A side 2-0, while the unofficial one-day series was won by Zimbabwe Select 4-2.
