Iztok Jarc (born 21 August 1963) is a Slovenian diplomat and politician. From 2007 to 2008 he served as Minister of Agriculture of Slovenia. He was serving as an ambassador of Slovenia in the United Kingdom from 2008 to 2013.
Jarc was born in the town of Novo Mesto, but spent most of his youth in the nearby Lower Carniolan village of Prečna, where his parents worked as farmers. He attended grammar school in Novo Mesto, enrolling in the University of Ljubljana in 1982. He studied at the Faculty of Social Sciences graduating from international relations in 1987.
In 1989 Jarc got employed at the Secretariat for International Collaboration of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia. After the victory of the DEMOS coalition on the first democratic elections in Slovenia in April 1990, Dimitrij Rupel became head of the secretariat, gradually transforming it into a ministry of foreign affairs of Slovenia which was starting its process of secession from Yugoslavia. Jarc had an important role in this process which ended in the international recognition of Slovenian independence in 1992. In 1993, Jarc shortly moved to Brussels and got employed as an advisor to the European Commission, in the General Directorate for the Policy on Small and Medium Enterprises. At the end of the same year he got employed as an expert on the Slovenian Ministry for Economic Relations and Development.
In 1996, Jarc became the chief advisor for economic issues in the Slovenian Mission at the European Union in Brussels, where he remained until 2000, when he became the chairman of the Sector for European Integration and Economic Relations in the Slovenian Foreign Ministry. The same year, he was named by the Slovenian government led by Andrej Bajuk as member of the negotiation group for Slovenian entry in the European Union. In 2001, he was named Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, which he remained until 2004, when he became the Slovenian ambassador to Israel.
In 2007, after the resignation of Minister of Agriculture Marija Lukačič, Jarc was named as the new Minister of Agriculture of Slovenia in the centre-right cabinet led by Janez Janša. In the parliamentary elections of 2008, he did run on the list of any political party and instead chose to get back into diplomacy. Following the victory of the centre-left coalition led by Borut Pahor, Jarc was replaced as Minister of Agriculture by Milan Pogačnik.
In December 2008, after several months of delay, he was appointed by President Danilo Türk as ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Since December 2008, Jarc is the president of the Committee for Agriculture in the Expert Council of the Slovenian Democratic Party, the current shadow cabinet in Slovenia. [1]
Novo Mesto is a city on a bend of the Krka River in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. The town is traditionally considered the economic and cultural centre of the historical Lower Carniola region.

Alojz "Lojze" Peterle is a Slovenian politician. He is a member of New Slovenia, part of the European People's Party. He served as Prime Minister of Slovenia from 1990 to 1992, Leader of the Christian Democrats from the founding of the party in 1990 until it merged with the Slovenian People's Party in 2000, and was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1994 and again in 2000. He was a Member of the National Assembly from 1996 to 2004, and a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2019.

Božidar Jakac was a Slovene Expressionist, Realist and Symbolist painter, printmaker, art teacher, photographer and filmmaker. He produced one of the most extensive oeuvres of pastels and oil paintings, drawings and, above all, prints in Slovenia. He was also one of the key organizers in the establishment of the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and the International Biennal of Graphic Art in Ljubljana. Some of his work is on display in museums in Belgrade.
Anton Podbevšek was a Slovenian avant-garde poet. He was an important influence to the poet Srečko Kosovel. He was one of the participants of the artistic activity known as the Novo Mesto Spring in 1920, which marked the beginning of Slovenian modernism. The poet Miran Jarc portrayed him in the semi-autobiographical novel Novo mesto in the character of Andrej Vrezec.
Matjaž Šinkovec is a Slovenian diplomat, politician, translator, journalist and science fiction writer. He was one of the co-founders of the Slovenian Democratic Party.

Vladimir Olegovich Rakhmanin became FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia in January 2014. Russian by nationality, Rakhmanin completed a Master's diploma in international relations from Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1980. Rakhmanin has enjoyed a distinguished career in the Russian civil service, including appointments as the Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998–2000), Chief of Protocol of the President of the Russian Federation (2000–2002), and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ireland (2002–2006). From 2008 until joining FAO, Rakhmanin served as Deputy Secretary General of the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels.

The first Rutte cabinet, also called the Rutte–Verhagen cabinet was the executive branch of the Government of the Netherlands from 14 October 2010 until 5 November 2012. The cabinet was formed by the conservative-liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the Christian-democratic Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) after the election of 2010. Miroslav Cerar Jr. is a Slovenian law professor and politician. He was Prime Minister of Slovenia, leading the 12th Government. He served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the 13th Government. He is a full professor at the Chair of Theory and Sociology of Law at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Law.

The 12th Government of Slovenia, led by Prime Minister Miro Cerar, was announced on 18 September 2014. It was formed following the 2014 parliamentary election won by the centre-left Party of Miro Cerar; it was the third government formed over four years. At 51 years, Cerar was the second oldest Prime Minister of Slovenia since Independence, following Andrej Bajuk at 56 years. The cabinet had on the day of inauguration the highest number of women ministers representatives, as there were seven women ministers out of sixteen ministers in total. Cerar's cabinet was the highest educated cabinet to date, with six members with a doctorate.
