Plot

Set in Simhabettu village in Coastal Karnataka, the story revolves around Satya (Roopesh Shetty), a sharp and loyal young man who works for the local MLA Vishwanath (Raj Deepak Shetty). Initially, Satya ignores the village's long-standing issues, such as the absence of a bridge and lack of medical facilities. However, when these problems personally affect his family, Satya decides to fight for his people. The narrative explores themes of political manipulation, social responsibility, and grassroots activism, interspersed with humor and romance involving Shravya (Adhvithi Shetty). A cameo by Suniel Shetty adds weight to the film's message about accountability and voting rights. [5]

The film was conceptualized by Roopesh Shetty after his stint in reality television, aiming to showcase coastal Karnataka's socio-political struggles through cinema. The script was co-written with Venu Hasrali, blending political drama, comedy, and regional culture.

Filming

Principal photography took place in Mangaluru and surrounding villages, capturing authentic Tulu landscapes and dialect. The cinematography was handled by Vinuth K, and editing by Deekshith Alva.

Casting

Roopesh Shetty played the lead role, while Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty was roped in for a cameo to attract a wider audience. Popular Tulu actors like Aravind Bolar and Devadas Kapikad were cast for comic relief and cultural authenticity

Release

Jai was released on 14 November 2025 in Karnataka and coastal regions, with subtitles for non-Tulu speakers. It was marketed as a family entertainer with a social message, targeting both Kannada and Tulu audiences. The film created a record by securing 1,020 shows on its opening day. Within five days, the film has collected Rs 5 crore (both Kannada and Tulu versions). The dubbing rights, audio rights and premiere shows have also generated significant revenue.

Box Office Collection

The film’s budget was never officially revealed, Despite that, it managed to connect with audiences from the very beginning. The response was very good and the strong support from overseas Tulu viewers gave the film a solid lift.

The distribution rights were taken up by KVN Production, and the audio rights were sold to Anand Audio, adding to the film’s overall visibility.

The premiere shows received warm and positive reactions, with theatres filling up right from day one.

The momentum has continued, and the movie is still running house-full in several centres. With the love it has received both locally and internationally, the film has firmly earned its place as a super hit.
