Anthony Daasan is an Indian folk singer, who is currently working in the Tamil film industry. He is known for contributing a powerful voice to fusions of Tamil-folk, country, jazz, electronica and rock styles. Before this phase of playback singing, he worked as a travelling festival folk singer artist, collaborating with players of Nadaswaram, Thavil and Thappu, dancers and acrobats among others. He has performed with influential movie industry veterans such as Usha Uthup.
Apart from his musical performances, he has also made cameo appearances in Tamil films, particularly in songs sung by himself, notable of which is a cameo as a gangster in the Karthik Subbaraj directorial, Jigarthanda. Earlier he also featured in The Dewarists , [2] a musical television series in India, which is partly a music documentary and partly a travelogue.
Originally from Reddypalayam, a small town in Tanjore, [3] he has a traditional musician-family background without formal training except daily practice supporting his family with his singing, following processions since he was a child. His father was a disabled Nadaswaram musician. Daasan, developed a style able to meet the volume of the famously-loud Nadaswaram horn. Being a Christian, Anthony had early experience with village church singing. During 2013, is style of band-leading, singing, lyrics, composition, dance, acrobatics and urumee playing came together, reflecting an entire life lived as an entertainer.
He also performed in Airtel Supersinger in Vijay tv but he was eliminated only to be called by Anirudh for a song in his upcoming movie with VJS
Fresh talents playing with Daasan have included Santhosh Narayanan, Sean Roldan, Vishal Chandrasekar, Anirudh, Hiphop Tamizha, and Siddharth Vipin.
Anthony Travels & Performs with his Band - "Anthony in party", an electronic folk-fusion band. [3] He was also associated with La Pongal, another folk-fusion band, organized by Darbuka Siva, which also had yet another notable singer/musician Pradeep. The band gained popularity among festival circuits. [4] [5] [6] Eventually Anthony Daasan, along with the band, performed "Vandiyila Nellu Varum", one of their most popular compositions, in MTV Coke Studio India 2012, alongside veteran singer Usha Uthup. [7] Anthony Daasan performed “Musical Nights” for New Jersey Tamil Peravai - Fall Festival 2020 which was streamed live in YouTube on November 20, 2020.
In September 2014, Anthony was presented with the "Hope of Tamil Cinema Award," including recognition as "symbol of folk". The award ceremony was filmed at Pradharshini 2014 South-India cultural festival. He won the SIIMA Award for Best Male Playback Singer in Tamil at the 8th South Indian International Movie Awards.

Avial are an Indian alternative rock band formed in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India in 2003, and known for their Malayalam lyrics. The band initially included lead vocalist Anandraj Benjamin Paul, guitarist Rex Vijayan, turntablist and backing vocalist Tony John, bassist Naresh Kamath and drummer Mithun Puthanveetil. Avial had their first breakthrough with the 2003 single "Nada Nada". They are known for pioneering what they call "Alternative Malayali rock", which is the style of combining Malayalam lyrics and rock music. Their eponymous album got them six out of seven Jack Daniels Rock Awards and Footprints Young Achiever's Award in 2008. The band was praised for achieving mainstream success despite singing in their native language.
The Dewarists is a musical television series on MTV India. The series is part music documentary and part travelogue. Bennet and the Band is a backing band founded in 1998 by Bennet Roland, Guitarist/Music Director, from Kerala. Band specializes in genre based re-orchestration of popular melodies, Indian film tunes and traditional folk melodies for which the band uses session musicians lined up according to the type of music they need to play for the singer with whom they are jamming. Its performances with the singers often involve improvisation.
Jigarthanda (transl. Cold-heart) is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language crime comedy film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by S. Kathiresan. The film stars Bobby Simha, Siddharth, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran, Guru Somasundaram and Aadukalam Naren. Gavemic U. Ary was the cinematographer, making his debut in Tamil cinema, and Vivek Harshan was the editor. Santhosh Narayanan composed the songs and background score.
Airtel Super Singer Junior – Ithu Thamizhagathin Chellakuralukkana Thedal – is a reality TV show since February 2007 hosted by Vijay TV, a popular Tamil channel of the Star Network, and sponsored by Bharti Airtel. It is a singing talent hunt for the children of age group 6–15. This is the junior version of the Airtel Super Singer show, which premiered on 28 April 2006. Auditions are held in various parts of Tamil Nadu, India. The show attracts many kids from all over the state and rigorous multi-level selection procedures are done in order to select the contestants for the competition. The tenth season is set to launch very soon.
Arunraja Kamaraj is an Indian singer, lyricist, actor and director in Tamil-language films. He is known for his works as lyricist in films such as Jigarthanda, Theri, Pencil and Kabali. He also debuted as an actor in Raja Rani and appeared as Neruppu Kumar in the film Maan Karate. He has written and sung the songs "Ding Dong" for the movie Jigarthanda and written "Kaavaalaa" for the movie Jailer which were critically acclaimed. He has also written and sung the song "Neruppu Da" in Rajinikanth's film Kabali. His other notable works includes movies such as Demonte Colony and Trisha Illana Nayanthara.
Thaanaa Serndha Koottam is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language crime comedy film directed by Vignesh Shivan. The film stars Suriya, alongside Karthik, Ramya Krishnan, Keerthy Suresh, Nandha, Kalaiyarasan, RJ Balaji, and Suresh Chandra Menon. The film's music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the cinematography was performed by Dinesh B. Krishnan and edited by A. Sreekar Prasad. It is a remake of the 2013 Hindi film Special 26, which was inspired by the true event of the 1987 Opera House heist in Mumbai.
Vivek–Mervin is an Indian music composer duo consisting of Vivek Siva and Mervin Solomon. They are known for their work in Tamil language films. They worked together on Vadacurry (2014), Dora (2016), Pattas (2020), Sulthan (2021) Sangathamizhan (2020) and Gulaebaghavali (2018).
Bjorn Surrao is an Indian singer-songwriter, performer, music producer and actor. He initially gained fame for his vocals in the song "Master the Blaster" from the Tamil film Master (2021). The track went on to #1 on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify listings with over 32 million views on YouTube. Bjorn has an independent music band called "Franks got the Funk". After "Master the Blaster", Bjorn in collaboration with Arivu & Jigarthanda Music worked on a song for Think Music titled "Yenna Sonna" Chennai Super Kings Anthem. His acting gained widespread attention after his supporting comedy role in Doctor (2021). He also starred in Beast with Vijay.
Pradeep Rangaswamy Kumar is an Indian playback singer and music director who has worked in Tamil language films. After beginning his career as a Carnatic musician, in the 2010s, he has regularly collaborated with composers Santhosh Narayanan and Sean Roldan.
