The 1998 Klang Valley water crisis occurred in Malaysia in February 1998 when the three reservoir dams in Klang Valley, Klang Gates Dam, Batu Dam and Semenyih Dam suffered a substantial drop in water level following the El Niño phenomenon. The subsequent water shortage affected almost all the residents in the Klang Valley causing the government to impose water rationing prior to the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Semenyih Dam is one of the Klang Valley major dams in Selangor, Malaysia. Built in 1985, the dam, with the lovely lake surrounded by green forested hills, provides one of the most breathtaking sights in the country. It also supplies a major portion of drinking water to the Klang Valley population. Semenyih Dam also has become popular with angling enthusiasts, especially on weekends.

&Jalan Semenyih–Kuala Klawang is a road connecting Semenyih of Hulu Langat district in Selangor and Kuala Klawang in Jelebu district of Negeri Sembilan. This road is known to have many dangerous sharp corners. This road is not a commonly used route; the more popular routes to Kuala Klawang are the Kajang–Seremban Highway and then Federal Route 86 from Seremban's Ampangan exit.

The Selangor water works provides water supply to the state of Selangor as well as the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya in Malaysia. The raw water are sourced mostly from surface water collected by several dams, lakes and rivers, and treated at nearby water treatment plants. The Selangor water works is run by Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, Selangor State owned company.

The East Klang Valley Expressway, EKVE or Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road(KLORR) is a new expressway under construction in Klang Valley, Malaysia. The 39.5-kilometre-long (24.5 mi) expressway will connect Ukay Perdana in Ampang, Selangor and Bandar Sungai Long in Kajang. This expressway is part of the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road (KLORR). The construction of the expressway was started on 1 September 2015. Once completed, the expressway will benefit 140,000 motorists per day.

The Stadium Kajang MRT station is an elevated mass rapid transit (MRT) station on the Kajang Line, located in downtown Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia. It was opened on 17 July 2017, along with 19 adjoining stations as part of Phase 2 of the system. It is the second-to-last station towards Kajang on the SBK line.

2019 Semenyih by-election

A by-election was held on 2 March 2019 for the Selangor State Legislative Assembly seat of Semenyih. The seat became vacant after the death of the incumbent assemblyman, Bakhtiar Mohd Nor, 57, on 11 January 2019 from heart attack. Bakhtiar was a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party or Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU), a component of Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

Zakaria bin Hanafi is a Malaysian politician currently serving as a member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Semenyih since 18 March 2019.
