James B. Smith (born 1952) is the former United States Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Selected by President Barack Obama,he was sworn in on September 16,2009. He left his post on September 27,2013.
Prior to his appointment,Ambassador Smith had served in a variety of executive positions with Raytheon Company involving corporate strategic planning,aircraft manufacturing,and international business development.
Smith was a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy’s Class of 1974 and received the Richard I. Bong award as the Outstanding Cadet in Military History. He received his master's degree in history from Indiana University in 1975. He is a distinguished graduate from the Naval War College,the Air Command and Staff College and the National War College.
Smith spent a 28-year career in the United States Air Force. Trained as a fighter pilot,he logged over 4,000 hours of flight time in F-15s and T-38s. He served around the world in a variety of operational assignments and flew combat missions from Dhahran AB during Operation Desert Storm. He commanded the 94th Fighter Squadron,the 325th Operations Group and the 18th Fighter Wing (Kadena AB,Okinawa). In addition,he served in a variety of staff assignments involving coalition partners,and served as Air Force Chair and Professor of Military Strategy at the National War College. During his final assignment at U.S. Joint Forces Command,he led Millennium Challenge,the largest transformation experiment in history. He was promoted to brigadier general in October,1998,and retired from the Air Force on October 1,2002.
In April 2017,Smith was appointed to be the dean of the newly formed College of Engineering,Technology,and Aeronautics at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). [2]

Robert Aitken "Bob" Rushworth was a United States Air Force major general,World War II,Korean War and Vietnam War pilot,mechanical and aeronautical engineer,test pilot and astronaut. He was one of twelve pilots who flew the North American X-15,an experimental spaceplane jointly operated by the Air Force and NASA. He flew 34 of the program's 199 flights,more than any other pilot.
John Michael Loh is a retired four-star general in the United States Air Force (USAF) who last served as Commander,Air Combat Command from June 1992 to July 1995. His other four-star assignment include being the 24th Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force from June 1990 to March 1991,and Commander,Tactical Air Command from March 1991 to June 1992.
Charles Albert Horner is a retired United States Air Force four-star general. He was born in Davenport,Iowa and attended the University of Iowa,as part of the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps program. On June 13,1958,Horner was commissioned into the Air Force Reserve. During the Vietnam War,he flew in combat as a Wild Weasel pilot and received the Silver Star. During Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm,he commanded the air forces of the coalition,and he additionally briefly served as Commander-in-Chief —Forward of United States Central Command while General Norman Schwarzkopf,Jr.,the commander of all coalition forces,was still in the United States. He currently serves on the board of directors for the United States Institute of Peace.

Prior to that,he served as director of strategic plans and policy,the Joint Staff. Renuart retired from the Air Force on July 1,2010,after over 39 years of service.

He is a businessman who served as chairman of the board of GeoEye,a company he helped to transform into the world's largest space imaging corporation and that merged with DigitalGlobe Inc in January 2013. Previously,he served as chairman of Oracle Corporation's board of directors from 1992 until 1995.
Carrol Howard "Howie" Chandler,is a retired United States Air Force four-star general. He last served as the 35th Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force from August 27,2009,to January 14,2011. He previously served as commander of Pacific Air Forces from November 2007 to August 20,2009,and deputy chief of staff for operations,plans and requirements from October 23,2005,to November 29,2007. As vice chief,he presided over the Air Staff and served as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Requirements Oversight Council and Deputy Advisory Working Group. He assisted the chief of staff with organizing,training,and equipping of 680,000 active-duty,Guard,Reserve and civilian forces serving in the United States and overseas. He retired from the Air Force by March 1,2011. In 2012 he joined Pratt &Whitney Military Engines as vice president for military business development and international programs.
Lieutenant General Larry D. James is a former senior officer in the United States Air Force and is currently a civilian NASA administrator. He is the deputy director of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory,where he also acted as the interim director from August 21,2021 to May 16,2022. He acts as the Laboratory's Chief Operating Officer responsible to the Director for the day-to-day management of JPL's resources and activities. This includes managing the Laboratory's solar system exploration,Mars,astronomy,physics,Earth science,interplanetary network programs,and all business operations. These activities employ 5000 scientists,engineers,technicians,and business support personnel,generating $1.8 billion in annual revenues. Prior to his current role,he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence,Surveillance and Reconnaissance,Headquarters United States Air Force. James' prior commands included the 14th Air Force and Joint Functional Component Command for Space from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
Charles Lawthers Donnelly Jr. was a general in the United States Air Force who served as Commander in Chief,United States Air Forces in Europe/Commander,Allied Air Forces Central Europe from 1984 to 1987. Donnelly was also a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War. He died of cancer in Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base on July 3,1994,at the age of 64.

Charles Quinton Brown Jr. is a United States Air Force general who has served as the 21st chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff since October 1,2023. Prior to his appointment,Brown served as the 22nd chief of staff of the Air Force from 2020 to 2023. Brown entered the Air Force in 1984 and served as a fighter pilot,where he has logged over 3,000 flight hours,including 130 hours in combat. He has commanded the Pacific Air Forces,U.S. Air Forces Central Command,31st Fighter Wing,8th Fighter Wing,U.S. Air Force Weapons School,and 78th Fighter Squadron. He has also served as deputy commander of the U.S. Central Command.
Herbert Jay "Hawk" Carlisle is a retired United States Air Force four-star general who last served as the commander of Air Combat Command,at Langley Field,Joint Base Langley–Eustis,Virginia. He also previously served as the commander of Pacific Air Forces while concurrently serving as air component commander for United States Pacific Command and executive director of Pacific Air Combat Operations Staff,Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam,Hawaii. He officially retired from the Air Force on May 1,2017,with 39 years of service.
