James Drescher (born August 12, 1965), better known as Jimmy G or Jimmy Spliff, is the lead singer for New York based hardcore punk band Murphy's Law. [1] [2]
Murphy's Law is an American hardcore band from New York City, New York, formed in 1982. While vocalist Jimmy Drescher remains the only remaining original member of the band. the line-up has consisted of former members of bands such as Skinnerbox, Danzig, The Bouncing Souls, Mucky Pup, Dog Eat Dog, Hanoi Rocks, Agnostic Front, Warzone, Cro-Mags, and D Generation. Over the course of their career, Murphy's Law have released five full-length albums, the last of which was released in 2001. Countless singles and covers have been recorded throughout the band's career which are listed on their website. Murphy's Law have been touring Japan, Europe and the US for years despite lack of record label support.
He appears in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV as the voice of Liberty City Hardcore (L.C.H.C) radio station's DJ. [3]
In 2018, he was hospitalized and underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sheer Terror, Killing Time held a concert to raise funds for his medical bills. [4] There was also a GoFundMe campaign on his behalf. [5]
On May 4, 2023, Drescher along with various friends were celebrating the one year anniversary of the death of musician Howie Pyro. During the celebration, Pyro's former D Generation bandmate Jesse Malin suffered a rare spinal cord stroke that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Drescher carried Malin from the restaurant into a nearby apartment from where he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. [6]
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were an American ska punk band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1983. From the band's inception, lead vocalist Dicky Barrett, bassist Joe Gittleman, tenor saxophonist Tim "Johnny Vegas" Burton and dancer ("Bosstone") Ben Carr remained constant members. The band's final line-up also included drummer Joe Sirois, saxophonist Leon Silva, guitarist Lawrence Katz, keyboardist John Goetchius, and trombonist Chris Rhodes.

Jesse Malin is an American rock musician, guitarist, and songwriter. He began his performing career in the New York hardcore band Heart Attack, and rose to prominence as vocalist of D Generation. Over the course of his career, Malin has collaborated with Bruce Springsteen, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Ryan Adams and numerous other musicians.

Reggae punk is a genre of music originating in England in the late-1970s. It is characterized by a fusion of reggae music with punk rock. The genre originated amongst punk rock artists who mixed in reggae elements into their punk rock sound. The most notable band to do this was the Clash, having done so on many records. They even covered reggae songs such as Toots and the Maytals' "Pressure Drop", released as the B-side to "English Civil War", both from 1978's Give 'Em Enough Rope. When God Was Great is the eleventh and final studio album by the Boston ska punk band the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. It was released in 2021 on Hellcat, the band's only album with the label. The album was co-produced by Hellcat founder and Rancid member Tim Armstrong.
