Jamie Pinkerton is an American softball coach who is the current head coach at Iowa State. [1]
On August 2, 2017, Jamie Pinkerton was announced as the new head coach of the Iowa State softball program, [2] [3] replacing Jamie Trachsel who left for Minnesota. [4]
On July 30, 2021 Iowa State and softball coach Jamie Pinkerton agreed to a contract extension through June 30, 2025.
Pinkerton completed his fourth season at the helm of the Cyclones in 2021, leading Iowa State to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1988. After a 34–23 season in 2021, Pinkerton has a record of 105–94 at Iowa State, including a Covid-19 shortened season in 2020. The Cyclones won a pair of games at the 2021 NCAA Regional, advancing to the regional championship for the first time in program history.
Iowa State also earned its first-ever ranking in the NFCA Top-25 Coaches poll on Feb. 23, 2021, debuting at No. 25 in the country. ISU's unprecedented success has been sparked by Pinkerton engineering the greatest offense ever seen in Ames. For the third time in his four seasons at Iowa State, the Cyclones set a new school record for home runs – hitting 64 in just 57 games.

Iowa State University of Science and Technology is a public land-grant research university in Ames, Iowa, United States. Founded in 1858 as the Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm, Iowa State became one of the nation's first designated land-grant institutions when the Iowa Legislature accepted the provisions of the 1862 Morrill Act on September 11, 1862. On July 4, 1959, the college was officially renamed Iowa State University of Science and Technology.
James H. Hilton Coliseum, is a 14,267-seat multi-purpose arena located in Ames, Iowa. The arena opened in 1971. It is home to the Iowa State University Cyclones men's and women's basketball teams, wrestling, gymnastics and volleyball teams.
Fredrick Kristian Hoiberg is an American college basketball coach and former player. He has served as the men's head basketball coach at the University of Nebraska since 2019. Hoiberg grew up in Ames, Iowa, and played college basketball at Iowa State University in Ames where he earned the nickname "the Mayor". He was drafted into the National Basketball Association (NBA) where, over his ten year career, he played for the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, and Minnesota Timberwolves. After retiring as a player, he served as vice president for basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves before beginning his coaching career at his alma mater, Iowa State University. He was there from 2010 to 2015 before going on to coach in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls from 2015 to 2018.
