Jason Gardiner (born 6 November 1971) is an Australian choreographer, singer, and theatre producer best known for his role as a caustic and controversial judge on the ITV shows Dancing on Ice , Born to Shine and Stepping Out .

Gardiner was a judge on the first series of the BBC talent show Strictly Dance Fever . From 2006 to 2011, Gardiner was one of the original judges on the ITV show Dancing on Ice . Gardiner returned to Dancing on Ice for its eighth series in 2013, but the show was cancelled after its ninth series in 2014. He returned as a judge on the show in 2018., [1] before leaving the show for a second time in 2019. [2]

In 2006, Gardiner was one of the judges invited to take part in Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice , an Australian version of Dancing on Ice, screened on the Nine Network.

Early life

Adopted at the age of six months, Gardiner was born in Melbourne and grew up in at rural Victoria. He was bullied at school for being homosexual and suffered from anorexia for two years until he came to terms with his sexuality at the age of 16. [3]

At 12, Gardiner wrote and submitted his first musical and was the youngest ever applicant to attend The Workshop in Sydney. [4]

Let's Do Lunch with Gino & Mel is a British daytime television programme which aired live on ITV from 2011 until 2014 as part of ITV Food, presented by Gino D'Acampo and Melanie Sykes. D'Acampo cooks various food items, whilst Sykes does the main presenting of the show. The show mixed food with celebrity chat. In each episode, a celebrity guest appeared to assist the hosts and chat to them about their latest projects.

The tenth series of Dancing on Ice began airing on ITV on 7 January 2018. It was the first series since it ended in 2014 and featured a new set and ice rink, a new judging line up, and a new logo. After the tenth series, the live tour of Dancing on Ice returned from March to April 2018, starring celebrities from the series.

The eleventh series of Dancing on Ice began airing on 6 January 2019 on ITV. Filming took place in the purpose-built studio at Bovingdon Airfield, which was set up for series ten when the show was revived in 2018. An announcement was made on 11 March 2018, during the series ten finale, that the show had been recommissioned for another series.
