Chesterfield County is a county located just south of Richmond in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The county's borders are primarily defined by the James River to the north and the Appomattox River to the south. Its county seat is Chesterfield Court House.
Bon Air is a census-designated place (CDP) in Chesterfield County,Virginia,United States. The population was 18,022 at the 2020 census. The community is considered a suburb of the independent city of Richmond in the Richmond-Petersburg region and is a part of the Southside neighborhoods. Originally developed as a resort,a central portion of Bon Air has been designated as a National Historic District with many structures of Victorian design from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its name means "good air," reflecting its role as a resort getaway that wealthy Richmonders enjoyed for its fresh air as opposed to the dirty air of Richmond's industrial downtown of the late 19th century.
Midlothian is an unincorporated area and census-designated place in Chesterfield County,Virginia,U.S. Settled as a coal town,Midlothian village experienced suburbanization effects and is now part of the western suburbs of Richmond,Virginia south of the James River in the Greater Richmond Region. Because of its unincorporated status,Midlothian has no formal government,and the name is used to represent the original small Village of Midlothian and a vast expanse of Chesterfield County in the northwest portion of Southside Richmond served by the Midlothian post office.

Additionally,high school students can enroll in 13 specialty centers,two technical centers,one career academy,and two Governor's Schools.
Richard Bland College (RBC) is a public junior college associated with the College of William &Mary and located in South Prince George in Prince George County,Virginia. Richard Bland College was established in 1960 by the Virginia General Assembly as a branch of the College of William and Mary under the umbrella of "the Colleges of William and Mary". The "Colleges" system lasted two years. Although the other three institutions such as Christopher Newport founded as colleges of William and Mary became independent colleges and later universities,Richard Bland has continued as a junior college of the College of William and Mary. Though under its own administration,Richard Bland College is governed by William and Mary's Board of Visitors. It was named after Virginia statesman Richard Bland who lived in Prince George County where the campus is located.
Matoaca High School is a secondary school in the Matoaca community of unincorporated Chesterfield County,United States. This is the newer campus of the school;the old school campus was converted into a middle school,known currently as Matoaca Middle School. The school's mascot is the Warrior. Matoaca is well known for its sports and its technology specialty center.
Henry Leander Marsh III is an American civil rights lawyer and politician. A Democrat,Marsh was elected by the city council as the first African-American mayor of Richmond,Virginia in 1977. He was elected to the Senate of Virginia in 1991,and resigned from his seat in 2014. Marsh represented the 16th district,consisting of the city of Petersburg,Dinwiddie County,and parts of the city of Richmond,and Chesterfield and Prince George counties. Marsh is now a commissioner on the Virginia Department of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board,a position to which he received appointment from Governor Terry McAuliffe promptly after his departure from the Senate in 2014.

Robert Lee Ware Jr. is an American politician. Since 1998 he has served in the Virginia House of Delegates,representing the 65th district west of Richmond,consisting of the entirety of his home county of Powhatan,the precincts of Skinquarter,Tomahawk,Woolridge,Brandermill,Swift Creek,Evergreen West,Edgewater,Midlothian,Roseland,and Midlothian North in Chesterfield County;the precincts of Fife,Three Square,Sandy Hook,and Goochland Court House 2,in Goochland County;and the precincts of Columbia and Fork Union in Fluvanna County. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Marvin Kirkland Cox is an American retired politician and educator. A Republican and a former high school teacher,he served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1990 to 2022,representing the 66th District. From 2018 to 2020,he served as the 55th Speaker of the House of Delegates. Cox served as House Majority Leader from 2010 to 2018 and House Majority Whip from 2004 to 2010.

The 2017 Virginia Attorney General election was held on November 7,2017. The incumbent attorney general,Democrat Mark Herring,was expected to run for governor,but announced he would run for re-election instead. As only Herring and Republican John Adams qualified for their respective party primaries,the two automatically became their parties' nominees. In the general election,Herring defeated Adams to win a second term as Attorney General of Virginia.

He previously served as the Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry under Governor Bob McDonnell and Terry McAuliffe. Prior to these two posts,he served in then-Governor Tim Kaine's administration in the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

The 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election was held on November 2,2021,to elect the next governor of Virginia. The election was concurrent with other elections for Virginia state offices. Incumbent Democratic governor Ralph Northam was ineligible to run for re-election,as the Constitution of Virginia prohibits governors from serving consecutive terms. Businessman Glenn Youngkin won the Republican nomination at the party's May 8 convention,which was held in 37 polling locations across the state,and was officially declared the nominee on May 10. The Democratic Party held its primary election on June 8,which former governor Terry McAuliffe easily won.
Richmond,Virginia,held a general election on November 3,2020. Voters elected the mayor of Richmond,Virginia,members of the Richmond City Council,and several other local officials. The incumbent,Levar Stoney,who was elected in 2016,ran for reelection,facing five challengers. While local races in Virginia are officially nonpartisan elections,four candidates identified with the Democratic party while Griffin ran as an independent. Stoney won the most votes in six out of nine city council districts,and therefore won reelection. In order to win election,a candidate must receive the most votes in five or more districts.
The 2025 Virginia lieutenant gubernatorial election will be held on November 4,2025,to elect the lieutenant governor of Virginia. Incumbent Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears has said she will not run for re-election to a second term in office,instead choosing to run for governor.
