Jay C. Martin (born October 8,1969) is an American attorney and politician who served as a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives for the 40th district from 2003 to 2007. In 2005,Martin served as majority leader of the House.
Martin was born in Little Rock,Arkansas in 1969. Martin had a mentally ill father and was raised in North Little Rock. In 1992,he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Four years later,Martin earned Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law. [1]
Since 1997,Martin has worked as an attorney at James R. Wallace and Associates. He was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives in November 2002 and assumed office in January 2003. He left office in 2007. Martin serves as the president of Wallace,Martin Duke &Russell. [2]
On February 8,2022,Martin announced that he would run for governor of Arkansas in the 2022 Arkansas gubernatorial election. [3] [4] [5] Martin campaigned as a pro-life Democrat.[ citation needed ] He lost a primary to Chris Jones. In 2024,he sought the position of Chief Justice in the nonpartisan judicial primary,but was eliminated in the first primary.
Martin and his wife,Dawn,have three children. He is an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God. [6]
Orval Eugene Faubus was an American politician who served as the 36th Governor of Arkansas from 1955 to 1967,as a member of the Democratic Party. In 1957,he refused to comply with a decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in the 1954 case Brown v. Board of Education,and ordered the Arkansas National Guard to prevent black students from attending Little Rock Central High School. This event became known as the Little Rock Crisis. He was elected to six two-year terms as governor.
James Guy Tucker Jr. is an American former politician,businessman,and attorney who served as the 43rd governor of Arkansas from 1992 until his resignation in 1996 after his conviction for fraud during the Whitewater affair. A member of the Democratic Party,he previously served as the 15th lieutenant governor,state attorney general,and as a U.S. representative.
Central Airlines was a local service carrier,a scheduled passenger airline operating in Arkansas,Colorado,Kansas,Missouri,Oklahoma,and Texas from 1949 to 1967. It was founded by Keith Kahle in 1944 to operate charter and fixed base services in Oklahoma,but was not granted an air operator's certificate until 1946 and did not begin scheduled flights until September 15,1949,just before the certificate expired. Central was then headquartered at Meacham Field in Fort Worth,Texas. The airline was eventually acquired by and merged into the original Frontier Airlines which continued and expanded its network.
Arkansas's 2006 state elections were held November 7,2006. Primaries were held May 23 and runoffs,if necessary,were held June 13. Arkansas elected seven constitutional officers,17 of 35 state senate seats,all 100 house seats and 28 district prosecuting attorneys,and voted on one constitutional amendment and one referred question. Non-partisan judicial elections were held the same day as the party primaries for four Supreme Court justices,four appeals circuit court judges,and eight district court judges.

The Congressional Western Caucus is a caucus within the United States House of Representatives composed of 62 members. Republican Tim Hutchinson won the open seat,becoming the first Republican to win a U.S. Senate seat in Arkansas since Reconstruction in 1872 and the first to ever be popularly elected in the state. He was the first to win this seat since 1870. Hutchinson lost re-election in 2002 to David Pryor's son Mark Pryor.

Christopher Michael Jones is an American politician who was the Democratic Party nominee for Governor of Arkansas in the 2022 election. Born in Pine Bluff,Arkansas,he attended Morehouse College and graduate school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He previously worked at the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub,from which he resigned in April 2021. On June 15,2021,Jones announced that he was entering the Democratic primary for Governor of Arkansas. He won the primary but lost the general election to Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
