Jeff Tremaine (born September 4, 1966) is an American film and television director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for co-creating the MTV reality stunt show Jackass with Spike Jonze and Johnny Knoxville.

Career

Tremaine was born on September 4, 1966, in Durham, North Carolina. [1] He was born to a military family that moved frequently before finally settling in Rockville, Maryland. [2] He is the former editor of the skating culture magazine Big Brother [3] and a former art director of the influential BMX magazine GO, [4] as well as a former professional BMX rider. [5] He was the executive producer on the MTV reality series Rob and Big [6] and the executive producer of Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, [7] Ridiculousness, [8] Nitro Circus, [9] and Adult Swim's Loiter Squad . [10]

Tremaine directed and produced all the movies in the Jackass franchise. The third sequel to Jackass, titled Jackass 3D , was filmed in 3D starting in January 2010. [11] [12] [13] The whole cast of the previous films returned. [14]

In 2014, Tremaine launched his production company, Gorilla Flicks. [15]

After announcing that Tremaine would be directing the Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt , [16] Tremaine made a public appearance at the band's final tour press conference confirming and also speaking on the film expressing his excitement, stating "The Dirt is a movie I've wanted to make ever since I read the book in 2002." [17] One year later, Focus Features announced that they had picked up the film, keeping Tremaine on to continue with directing. [18]

In 2015, Tremaine directed the WWE Network series WWE Swerved . [19] In 2010, Tremaine directed the 30 for 30 film The Birth of Big Air and, in 2015, directed Angry Sky. [20] In September 2016, Tremaine directed a new safety video for American Airlines. [21]

Tremaine also directed and produced the fourth main Jackass movie titled Jackass Forever , which released theatrically on February 4, 2022. [22]

Personal life

Tremaine went to high school and was friends with filmmaker Spike Jonze. [23] Tremaine lives in Los Angeles with his wife, podcaster and author Laura Tremaine, and their two children. [24]

Mötley Crüe is an American heavy metal band formed in Hollywood, California in 1981. Bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee first joined together with guitarist/lead vocalist Greg Leon. But after some time, Leon was replaced by guitarist Mick Mars and lead vocalist Michael White respectively. The latter was soon replaced by Vince Neil and the Mötley Crüe moniker was chosen soon after that. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The film stars original Jackass members Knoxville, Steve-O, Dave England, Wee Man, Danger Ehren, Chris Pontius, Preston Lacy, as well as newcomers Sean "Poopies" McInerney, Zach Holmes, Jasper Dolphin, Eric Manaka, Rachel Wolfson, the Jackass film crew, and celebrity guests. This is the first Jackass film not to feature Ryan Dunn since his death in 2011 and the first without Bam Margera being a primary cast member as he was fired during production, appearing in only one skit.
