The Jenkins-Harvey Super Service Station and Garage, at 124 S. College in Tyler, Texas, was built in 1929. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. [1]

Tyler is the county seat of Smith County, located in east-central Texas, United States. The city of Tyler has long been Smith County's major economic, educational, financial, medical, and cultural hub. The city is named for John Tyler, the tenth President of the United States. Tyler had a population of 96,900 in 2010, according to the United States Census Bureau, and Tyler's 2017 estimated population was 104,991. It is 100 miles (160 km) east-southeast of Dallas. Tyler is the principal city of the Tyler Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of 209,714 in 2010, and is the regional center of the Tyler-Jacksonville combined statistical area, which had a population of 260,559 in 2010.

National Register of Historic Places Federal list of historic sites in the United States

The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is the United States federal government's official list of districts, sites, buildings, structures and objects deemed worthy of preservation for their historical significance. A property listed in the National Register, or located within a National Register Historic District, may qualify for tax incentives derived from the total value of expenses incurred in preserving the property.

It was designed by James P. Baugh in Art Deco style and is a landmark in Tyler. [2]

Gainesville station (Texas) United States historic place

Gainesville is an Amtrak intercity train station in Gainesville, Texas. The station, called the Historic Santa Fe Depot in Gainesville, was originally built as an Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Depot in 1902. It housed a Harvey House Restaurant until 1931. The station saw no passenger rail service from December 5, 1979, when the last Amtrak Lone Star operated, until June 15, 1999, when the first Amtrak Heartland Flyer came through. The Santa Fe Railway deeded the depot to the city on October 19, 1981; however, its restoration was not completed until 2001. A museum is located on the first floor, and upstairs are city offices and a replica of a Harvey House overnight stay quarters.

Jenkins' Ferry Battleground State Park is the site of the American Civil War battle of Jenkins' Ferry, also known as the Engagement at Jenkins' Ferry, fought on Saturday, April 30, 1864, in present-day Grant County, Arkansas. The park was listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on January 21, 1970, and, with seven other sites, is part of the Camden Expedition Sites National Historic Landmark, designated a National Historic Landmark District on April 19, 1994.

Arts Auto United States historic place

Art's Auto is a historic former service station at 5–7 Lonsdale Avenue in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. It is a single-story brick structure with a flat roof and a series of towers capped by pointed roofs. It was built as an automotive service station in 1927–28 for Arthur Normand at a time when gasoline producers competed, in part, by the shape and style of their service stations. This station is one of two stations known to survive from this period in the state. Its front facade has a dramatic presentation, with square towers topped by pyramidal roofs at the corners, and a projecting round bay in the center topped by a conical roof, with windows arrayed around the bay and on its flanks. The building is currently used as an office for Anchor Financial. Art's Auto was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Sam Rayburn House Museum is a historic house museum at 890 West Texas State Highway 56 in Bonham, Fannin, Texas. Built in 1916, it was home to Sam Rayburn (1882-1961), a famously effective Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976. Since 1972, it has been operated as a museum and state historic site by the Texas Historical Commission.

Blackstone Building (Tyler, Texas) United States historic place

The Blackstone Building in Tyler, Texas is an Art Deco building built in 1938. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. Fort Worth architect Preston M. Geren designed the six-story building, which is one of only two Art Deco-style office buildings in the Tyler area. The project was financed by Tyler businessman Edmond P. McKenna and intended to ease the need for office space during the East Texas oil boom. The building housed offices for oil companies, geologists, attorneys, engineers, and more. In addition, the Blackstone was a location for the Union Bus Terminal from 1938 to the 1950s. The Blackstone Hotel next door was imploded in 1985 but the Blackstone Building still stands. It is being used as office space and houses the Tyler Chamber of Commerce.

Burton Commercial Historic District United States historic place

Burton Commercial Historic District is located in Burton, Texas. The district encompasses all or parts of seven city blocks. It contains 47 buildings, 28 of them classified as contributing.
