James Michael Constable (born 21 September 1971) is an English pop singer, songwriter and dancer. He is a member of the pop band 911.
Constable was born in the Liverpool Maternity Hospital (now Liverpool Women's Hospital) in Toxteth, Liverpool, Lancashire (now Merseyside), to parents Margaret and James "Jimmy" Matthews.
He is a fan of Liverpool F.C. [1]
Constable began his career in the early 1990s as a dancer on the late-night ITV dance music show The Hitman and Her . [2] [3]
Whilst on the show, Constable met Simon "Spike" Dawbarn and Jason Orange. [4] [3] Having seen how successful the latter went on to become with his band Take That, Constable and Dawbarn (who had become even more popular than the acts they were dancing for) decided to put their own band together, and 911 was born. Lee Brennan, who was a fan of both the boys and The Hitman and Her, agreed to join the line-up and they became a trio. [5]
911 spent several months building up a fanbase from scratch, performing gigs in schools and small public venues. After independently releasing two singles which both made the UK top 40, "Night to Remember" and "Love Sensation", 911 were signed up by Virgin Records after a major label bidding war. [6] [7]
911 were extremely successful, selling over 10 million singles and six million albums worldwide before splitting up in 2000. [8] Constable was the one who announced the split live on Radio 1. In a 2005 interview with The Guardian , Constable said: "I didn't have any time to get my head around it. I had a lump in my throat saying it, then we came out of Radio 1 and the other two guys went to the pub. I got in my car and took off and I never saw them for two years." [9]
After the band split, Constable turned to drink and drugs, admitting "I found myself in my old single bed with a bottle of Jack Daniel's and a bottle of pain killers and thought about ending it there and then. The only thing that stopped me was thinking about the devastation it would cause for my family." [10]
2006 saw Constable return to the music industry by taking part in the MTV series Totally Boyband . The series followed ex-members of other boy bands forming into a new band. The new band was called Upper Street, yet their first single was a commercial failure, charting at number 35 on the UK Singles Chart. The band quickly disbanded, with the whole project deemed a disaster. On 28 August 2007, he appeared on the BBC Two game show Identity, billed as an 'ex boyband member'.
On 18 October 2012, it was announced that 911, along with B*Witched, Five, Atomic Kitten, Honeyz and Liberty X, would be reuniting again for the ITV2 documentary series The Big Reunion . [11] [12]
Constable also does songwriting for other artists. He has worked with Les McKeown of the Bay City Rollers and Rod Stewart. [3]
Jimmy was previously in a nine-year relationship with his girlfriend Bernadette Robertson, whom he met in 1985. He proposed to her in 1988 and four years later she gave birth to their son, Scott. In 1994, Jimmy left Bernadette in order to move to Glasgow, Scotland and focus on his music career with 911, although he did agree to give her away at her next wedding. [13] Jimmy currently lives in Cambridgeshire with his wife Claire (whom he married in 2009) and two other children, Taylor and Ellie, whilst Scott lives with Bernadette in Runcorn. [8] On 7 June 2013, he appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show to talk about the issues that almost destroyed his life. [14]

Liberty X are an English pop group originally consisting of Michelle Heaton, Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young. The group was formed by the five finalists of the 2001 ITV talent show Popstars who failed to make it into the winning group Hear'Say.
B*Witched are an Irish girl group consisting of twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sinéad O'Carroll. Originally active between 1997 and 2002, they enjoyed success in both Europe and North America between 1998 and 2002, releasing two albums and eight singles, all of which made the UK Top 20. Their first four singles, "C'est la Vie", "Rollercoaster", "To You I Belong" and "Blame It on the Weatherman", all reached number one in the UK Singles Chart and the group having sold over 3 million albums worldwide.
Atomic Kitten are an English girl group formed in Liverpool in 1998, whose current members are Liz McClarnon, Natasha Hamilton and Jenny Frost. The group was founded by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) members Andy McCluskey and Stuart Kershaw, who served as principal songwriters during Atomic Kitten's early years. The group's debut album Right Now was released in October 2000 and charted at number 39 in the United Kingdom. After five top ten singles, original member Kerry Katona quit – four weeks before "Whole Again" reached number one in the UK Singles Chart – and was replaced by former Precious singer Jenny Frost. "Whole Again" became the group's most successful single, staying at number one for four weeks in the UK and six weeks in Germany, and reaching number one in many other territories; in Britain, it was the 13th best-selling single of the 2000s. The group re-released their debut album, with some tracks re-recorded with Frost's vocals: it peaked at number one in the UK and was certified double platinum after selling over 600,000 copies.

The Honeyz are a British R&B girl group, composed of members Celena Cherry and Mariama Goodman. The group had five UK top 10 hits between 1998 and 2000, with "Finally Found" (1998), "End of the Line" (1998), "Love of a Lifetime" (1999), "Never Let You Down" (1999) and "Won't Take It Lying Down" (2000). Their debut album was certified Gold by BPI. The Honeyz formed in 1998 with the original line-up consisting of Celena Cherry, Heavenli Abdi and Naima Belkhiati. Former Solid Harmonie member Mariama Goodman replaced Abdi on April 1999. Goodman left on August 2000 with Abdi rejoining, before the group disbanded for the first time in 2003.

911 are an English pop group consisting of Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Simon "Spike" Dawbarn. They were formed in Glasgow in 1995 and released their debut single "Night to Remember" in May 1996. This was followed by their debut album The Journey in March 1997, which was certified Gold by the BPI in November 1997. 911 released two more Silver-certified albums, Moving On and There It Is, in 1998 and 1999, respectively. There It Is also produced their only UK number-one single, a cover of "A Little Bit More", which topped the UK Singles Chart in January 1999.
Jason Paul "J" Brown is an English singer and rapper. He is best known as a former member and lead singer of boy band Five. He was the oldest member of the band, which also included Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Abz Love and Scott Robinson. In 2012, it was announced that Five, along with 911, Atomic Kitten, B*Witched, Honeyz and Liberty X, would be reuniting for the ITV2 reality series The Big Reunion, and although Brown initially agreed to take part in the reunion, he later backed out, claiming that he no longer wants to be appear in the public eye.
