James "Jimmy" Gordon (born 1987) is an American politician who has served in the Minnesota House of Representatives since January 14, 2025. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, Gordon represents District 28A, which includes parts of North Branch, Cambridge, and Isanti in southeastern Minnesota. [3] He previously served as is the mayor of Isanti.

Political career

Mayor of Isanti

Gordon ran for Mayor of Isanti, Minnesota, in 2022 and won the election with 55% of the vote, defeating incumbent Jeff Johnson. [4] After being elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in the 2024 election, he announced his resignation as mayor, effective December 31 of that year. [5]

In January 2024, Gordon announced his intention to challenge incumbent Republican Brian Johnson in the primary for District 28A of the Minnesota House of Representatives. [6] Despite reporting on his past tax deliquency during the primary campaign, [7] he won the Republican endorsement at convention, then defeated Johnson in the Republican primary with 65.99% of the vote. [8] He was the only challenger to successfully primary an incumbent in Minnesota in 2024. [9]

In the general election, he defeated Democrat Tim Dummer by nearly a 37-point margin. [10] He will be sworn in at the start of session on January 14, 2025. [11]

Personal life

Gordon was born in 1987 in Cambridge, Minnesota. He lives in Isanti with his wife Megan and four children and attends North Isanti Baptist Church. [13]

Lawrence was elected in a landslide with over 84% of the total vote.

Wayne A. Johnson is an American politician and member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party, he represents district 41A in the eastern Twin Cities metropolitan area, which includes the cities of Cottage Grove and Lake Elmo and other parts of Washington County.

A special election will be held in the U.S. state of Minnesota on a date to be determined to elect a new member for District 40B in the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing parts of Ramsey County. The election will fill the vacancy made after the initial election of Democratic–Farmer–Labor (DFL) candidate Curtis Johnson was overturned for his failure to meet residency requirements.
