Both trains are hauled by a Siliguri Loco Shed-based WDP-4D diesel locomotive from Dibrugarh to Katihar. From Katihar the train is hauled by a Ghaziabad Loco Shed-based WAP-4 electric locomotive as far as Samastipur. From Samastipur the train is hauled by a Samastipur Loco Shed-based WDM-3A diesel locomotive to Darbhanga and vice versa.

Dibrugarh–Kolkata Express is a weekly Superfast train that connects Dibrugarh, known as the "Tea City of India", in eastern Assam and Kolkata, West Bengal. The train runs between Dibrugarh station of N F Railway and Kolkata station of Eastern Railway. It is named after the Dihing River, a tributary of the Brahmaputra river and an important river of the Dibrugarh district in Assam. This train was announced in the Railway Budget 2012/2013. The inaugural run took place on 4 September 2012, from Dibrugarh. The train numbered as 12525/12526; 12526 covers a distance of 1356 km in 24 hours and 50 mins with an average speed of 54 km/h from Dibrugarh to Kolkata, and on its return journey 12525 covers the distance in 24 hours and 50 mins with an average speed of 54 km/h.

The 15705/15706 Champaran Humsafar Express is a superfast express train of the Indian Railways connecting Katihar Junction in Bihar and Delhi Junction in Delhi NCR. It is currently being operated with 15705/15706 train numbers on bi-weekly basis. The Loco reversal is done in saharsa in both the journey. The train runs from katihar with EMD Loco WDP4/4D till saharsa from Saharsa it reverses direction and takes Alco locomotive WDP/M 3A/3D till Gonda from gonda onwards it takes Electric AC engine WAP4/7 Till Old Delhi Jn. It is the only named Humsafar Express in Indian Railways.
