The Arkansas Razorbacks, also known as the Hogs, are the intercollegiate athletics teams representing the University of Arkansas, located in Fayetteville. The University of Arkansas student body voted to change the name of the school mascot in 1910 to the Arkansas Razorbacks after a hard-fought battle against LSU in which they were said to play like a "wild band of Razorback hogs" by former coach Hugo Bezdek. The Arkansas Razorbacks are the only major sports team in the U.S. with a porcine nickname, though the Texas A&M–Kingsville Javelinas play in Division II.

He was the NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships national champion in the indoor 55 m hurdles and a three-time NCAA All-American in track and field. Wilcher was also a running back for the Michigan Wolverines football team from 1983–1986. In his redshirt senior year, he was a member of the Big Ten Conference football champion team as well as a 110 m hurdles Big Ten individual champion. Wilcher was a 9th round selection by the San Diego Chargers in the 1987 NFL draft.
The Tampa Spartans football program was an intercollegiate American football team for the University of Tampa (UT) located in Tampa, Florida, that began play in 1933. The program competed against other small college programs in the forerunner of today's NCAA Division II for almost forty years before moving to the top level of NCAA Division I as an independent in 1971. Successfully competing against top college programs as a much smaller school put an enormous strain on the university's finances, and the school decided to discontinue football after the 1974 season.
Val Joe Walker was an American professional football player who was a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the SMU Mustangs. He was selected by the New York Giants in the seventh round of the 1952 NFL draft, and would later play four seasons with the Green Bay Packers and one with the San Francisco 49ers.
Bubba Thornton is a retired track and field coach. He coached Texas Christian University (TCU) from 1982 to 1995 and served as the Texas Longhorns men's track and field coach at the University of Texas at Austin from 1996 to 2013. He is also the former head coach for the USA Track & Field team for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
Jordan Michael Clarke is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the shot put. He holds a personal record 21.49 m for the event, set in 2015. He was the gold medalist at the 2014 Pan American Sports Festival. Clarke was third at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2015.
John Francis Helwig was an American football linebacker who played four seasons with the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Bears in the eleventh round of the 1950 NFL draft. He played college football at the University of Notre Dame and attended Mount Carmel High School in Los Angeles, California. Helwig was also an All-American shot putter for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish track and field team, placing 8th at the 1949 NCAA Track and Field Championships.
Joseph Martin Boland was an American football player and coach and sports broadcaster. He played on the 1924 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team coached by Knute Rockne. Boland was also a shot putter for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish track and field team, finishing 6th at the 1926 NCAA Track and Field Championships.
