Joe Shield (born June 26, 1962) is an American former professional football player in the National Football League (NFL). Shield was born on June 26, 1962, in Brattleboro, Vermont. He played quarterback at the collegiate level at Trinity College. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the eleventh round of the 1985 NFL Draft and was a member of the team for two seasons. The Packers gave the former Saints defender a six-year, $33 million contract that included a $6.5 million signing bonus. What they got in return was two sacks in 11 games over two injury-filled seasons, before they cut him. He played college football for the Louisville Cardinals.
