Joey Concepcion (born 23 December 1990) is an American guitarist, best known as a member of the melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, which he joined in 2023. [1] Previously he has played with Armageddon, Dark Tranquillity, Dead by Wednesday and Sanctuary.
As stated on his personal website, Concepcion made his musical debut at the age of 17 when he was invited for a guest appearance on Michael Vescera's solo album Sign of Things to Come (2008) - on the track "Something to Believe". [2]
Shortly after this guest appearance, he formed Oath of Insanity [3] , who were active from 2009 to 2012.
In 2014, he joined Armageddon, a band formed by former Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott. [4] He has since played on their albums Captivity & Devourment (2015) and Crossing the Rubicon (Revisited) (2016).
Concepcion first performed with Arch Enemy in 2018, at the Summer Breeze Open Air and Elbriot festivals as a temporary fill-in guitarist for Jeff Loomis. [5] The same year he also acted as a temporary guitarist for Sanctuary. [6]
In 2022 and 2023, Concepcion took on the temporary role as a guitarist in the Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. [7] [8]
Concepcion became a permanent member of Arch Enemy in 2023 following Loomis' 'amicable' departure from the band, which was announced on 30 December 2023. [1] His first full tour with the band was the 'Deceivers Asia Tour' which took place in Asia in April-May 2024. [9] His first release with the band was the 2024 single "Dream Stealer", which is taken from the upcoming album Blood Dynasty. [10]
Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band, originally a supergroup from Halmstad, formed in 1995. Sanctuary is an American heavy metal band, formed in 1985 in Seattle, Washington. They were broken up from 1992 to 2010. The band consists of Lenny Rutledge (guitar), Joseph Michael (vocals), George Hernandez (bass), and Dave Budbill (drums). The lead vocalist position was held by Warrel Dane until his death in 2017. They have released four studio albums and one live EP.
Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. They are considered one of the pioneering acts of the Gothenburg metal scene, which also includes bands such as In Flames and At the Gates - regarded as the Gothenburg fathers in the film entitled Out of Nothing: A DT Documentary released by Century Media, which was filmed in their home town in April 2009. After a nearly three-decade long collaboration of four founding members frequent lineup changes between 2016 and 2021 have left only vocalist Mikael Stanne as an original member, together with long-time keyboardist Martin Brändström.
Michael Amott is a Swedish guitarist, founding member of the metal bands Arch Enemy, Spiritual Beggars and Carnage, as well as a former member of Carcass. He is the older brother of Christopher Amott.
Stigmata is the second studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. The album was Arch Enemy's first to see worldwide release, in Europe and North America on Century Media Records, and in Japan again on Toy's Factory records. Stigmata features session drummer Peter Wildoer, who had also appeared in Christopher Amott's solo project Armageddon on the 1997 album Crossing the Rubicon, shortly before the recording of the album. The album was reissued on 25 May 2009, featuring a new layout, packaging, and bonus tracks. Stigmata not only contains a title track, but a track named after their previous album as well. The Sri Lankan metal band Stigmata named themselves after this album. The album was reissued again on 28 April 2023 in various formats, along with a visualiser for “Bridge of Destiny”.
Black Earth is the debut studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. Released on 2 October 1996 through Wrong Again, The album was reissued on 24 April 2007 through Regain Records, featuring "Losing Faith", two Iron Maiden covers and the video for "Bury Me an Angel". Jeff Loomis is an American musician, best known for his role as lead guitarist in the progressive metal band Nevermore during its existence from 1991 to 2011, as well as brief tenures in its precursor, Sanctuary. In 2014, he joined Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, and in 2021 he joined Graham Bonnet's Alcatrazz as well. He left Arch Enemy in 2023. As a solo artist he has released two albums and one EP.
Angela Nathalie Gossow is a German vocalist, best known as the former lead singer for the Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. Her other previous bands include Asmodina and Mistress.
Wages of Sin is the fourth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. It is the first Arch Enemy album to feature the vocals of Angela Gossow, and their first to feature a female vocalist. It is also their first album recorded in C tuning, starting a trend which continues across their discography. Martin Bengtsson is a Swedish metal musician. He was a key part of the influential Swedish melodic death metal scene. He was a member of the melodic death metal band Arch Enemy between 1997 and 1998, and played bass guitar on their second album, Stigmata. He was also a member of Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott's side project Armageddon in 1997. Bengtsson is currently the vocalist and lead guitarist in the heavy metal band Lechery.

War Eternal is the ninth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, which was released first in Japan on 4 June 2014 by Century Media. It is the first Arch Enemy album in 15 years since Burning Bridges to feature a new line-up; Alissa White-Gluz took over on vocals after former long-time vocalist Angela Gossow stepped down from vocal duties to be the band's business manager. Additionally, ex-Arsis guitarist Nick Cordle replaced Christopher Amott in 2012. Deceivers Asia Tour was a concert tour headlined by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. The tour was announced on January 20, 2024 and general ticket sales for the shows began on various dates within the following weeks. The first show of the tour was April 24, 2024 in Seoul, South Korea and the closing night of the tour was May 23, 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
European Blood Dynasty 2025 Tour is an upcoming concert tour headlined by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. The tour was announced on November 25, 2024, and general ticket sales for the shows began two days later. The first show of the tour will be October 10, 2025 at Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, Germany, and the closing night of the tour will be 15 November 2025 at Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf, Germany.
