Reginald John Mickel (born August 1953) is an Australian politician. He was the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland and the Labor member for Logan until the 2012 election. He was succeeded by Fiona Simpson as Speaker,as he did not contest the 2012 election.
Born in Murgon,Queensland,he went to school at St Laurence's College and later attended the University of Queensland where he studied literature and education.
In 1979,he joined the Labor Party and was an adviser to federal MP David Beddall. He was later a senior adviser to Queensland Premier Wayne Goss and to Health Minister (later Premier) Peter Beattie.
In 1998,he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland as the Labor member for Logan. He was a minister in various portfolios from 2004 to 2009. He served in Beattie's initial Cabinet as Environment Minister in 2004, [1] but was transferred to Energy in August of that year. [2] In March 2005,he added the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Policy portfolio. [3] In September 2006,he became Minister for State Development,Industrial Relations and Employment. [4] When Anna Bligh replaced Beattie as Premier,Mickel's portfolio was altered,becoming Transport,Trade,Employment and Industrial Relations. [5] He was dropped from the ministry after Labor's re-election in the 2009 state election, [6] but was elected Speaker when the Legislative Assembly convened in April 2009. [7]
Mickel announced on 10 August 2011 that he would step down at the 2012 election. [8]
Mickel is married;he has three children.

Kate Jennifer Jones is an Australian former politician from Queensland. She served as a Labor Party Member of Parliament in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 2006 to 2012,and again from 2015 to 2020. Jones first represented the seat of Ashgrove until she was defeated by eventual Premier Campbell Newman at the 2012 state election. Jones retook the seat for the Labor Party at the 2015 state election. The seat was abolished prior to the 2017 state election,so Jones contested and won the new seat of Cooper at that election. Stephen Robertson is an Australian politician,he is a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland who represented the electoral district of Stretton for the Labor Party. He was the Minister for Natural Resources,Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade in the cabinet of Premier Anna Bligh. He had previously held the positions of Minister for Health (2005–2009) and Minister for Emergency Services (1999–2001).

The Beattie Ministry was a Ministry of the Government of Queensland,led by Labor Premier Peter Beattie. It commenced on 26 June 1998,thirteen days after the Borbidge Ministry,led by Premier Rob Borbidge of the National Party,was defeated at the 1998 election. It was followed by the Bligh Ministry upon Beattie's retirement as Premier on 13 September 2007.
The Gair Ministry was a ministry of the Government of Queensland and was led by Labor Premier Vince Gair. It succeeded the Hanlon Ministry on 17 January 1952 following Ned Hanlon's death two days earlier. On 26 April 1957,Gair and most of the Ministry were expelled from the Labor Party and formed the Queensland Labor Party (QLP),retaining the ministry but losing the confidence of the Assembly. Anna Bligh was sworn in as Premier of Queensland on 13 September 2007 with her first ministry,replacing Peter Beattie,who had retired from politics,and his ministry. She subsequently won the 2009 state election with a reduced majority against the newly merged Liberal National Party of Queensland. Shortly thereafter,on 26 March 2009,Bligh reshuffled the ministry. She conducted a second reshuffle on 21 February 2011. Following her party's loss at the 2012 state election,she soon resigned as Premier to make way for the Newman Ministry.
