Desley Carole Boyle (born 29 March 1948) is a former Labor politician. Boyle represented the electoral district of Cairns,Queensland in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland and was elected in the 1998 State election and served until 2012 [1]
Boyle was the director and clinical psychologist for Desley Boyle and Associates,in Cairns. [1] She held a position with the Cairns' local government from 1988 to 1994,including two years as Deputy Mayor. [1]
She served on the Parliamentary Crime and Misconduct Committee between 2002 and 2004.
Boyle held various positions in the Beattie Ministry. She was appointed Minister for Local Government and Planning in February 2004,and added the new post of Minister for Women a month later. In August 2004,she also added Minister for Minister for the Environment. In a September 2006 reshuffle,she was appointed Minister for Child Safety.
When Anna Bligh took over from Beattie in September 2007,Boyle was appointed Minister for Tourism,Regional Development and Industry. Following the 2009 election,she returned to the Local Government portfolio as Minister for Local Government and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships.
On 17 February 2011,Boyle announced that she would be retiring at the 2012 state election and stood down from Cabinet four days later.
At the election,Labor lost the seat to Gavin King of the Liberal National Party.
Desley lives in Cairns,Tropical North Queensland. [1] She has three children and three grandchildren. Her hobbies include theater,film and contemporary music. [1]

Janice Heather Jarratt is an Australian politician. She was a teacher specialising in children with learning difficulties before entering parliament. A member of the Labor Party,she was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland for the seat of Whitsunday in 2001. She was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Primary Industries and Fisheries on 13 September 2006 by Premier Peter Beattie. She served on the front bench for all of Anna Bligh's term. She was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Tourism,Regional Development and Industry from 2007 to 2009,when she became Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Employment. In February 2011,she was promoted to the ministry as Minister for Tourism,Manufacturing and Small Business. In March 2012,Labor was swept out of power at an election that also cost Jarratt her seat.

The Beattie Ministry was a Ministry of the Government of Queensland,led by Labor Premier Peter Beattie. It commenced on 26 June 1998,thirteen days after the Borbidge Ministry,led by Premier Rob Borbidge of the National Party,was defeated at the 1998 election. It was followed by the Bligh Ministry upon Beattie's retirement as Premier on 13 September 2007.

Anna Bligh was sworn in as Premier of Queensland on 13 September 2007 with her first ministry,replacing Peter Beattie,who had retired from politics,and his ministry. She subsequently won the 2009 state election with a reduced majority against the newly merged Liberal National Party of Queensland. Shortly thereafter,on 26 March 2009,Bligh reshuffled the ministry. She conducted a second reshuffle on 21 February 2011. Following her party's loss at the 2012 state election,she soon resigned as Premier to make way for the Newman Ministry.
