John Russell Walker

The Ven John Russell Walker , MA was an eminent [1] Anglican priest [2] in the last third of the 19th century. [3]

He was born in Bury on 18 June 1837 [4] and educated at University College, Oxford. [5] He was ordained in 1863 and was Curate of Middleton [6] and then Walmersley. [7] The following year he married Augusta Margaret Hornby of Poole Hall, Nantwich. [8] He was appointed a Canon of Manchester Cathedral in 1870 [9] and then of Chichester in 1874. [10] In 1879 he became Archdeacon of Chichester, [11] dying in post [12] on 31 October 1887 [13] after a short illness. [14]
