The Ven Lancelot Mason MBE MA was an eminent [1] Church of England priest in the 20th century. [2]
He was born on 22 July 1905 and educated at the RN College Osborne, RN College Dartmouth, and Trinity College, Cambridge. [3] Ordained in 1929, he began his career with a curacy at Soham, after which he was Residential Chaplain to George Bell, Bishop of Chichester, until 1938. [4] Next he was Rector of Plumpton with East Chiltington, [5] and during the war was a Chaplain with the RNVR, and was Mentioned in Despatches [6] before being appointed Archdeacon of Chichester in 1946. He additionally became a Canon Residentiary at the diocese's cathedral in 1949; and retired from both posts in 1973. [7] He died on 9 February 1990.

After 19 years he returned to be Vicar of Meonstoke with Corhampton and Exton. His Times obituary described him as
"a man of prayer whose boundless energy and zeal showed the spirit of Christ in all his dealings.”

John Harold Greig was Bishop of Gibraltar then Guildford in the first half of the 20th century. He was born on 13 February 1865 and educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge. He was ordained deacon in 1888 and priest a year later. After a curacy at St Bartholomew's, Sydenham he was Wilberforce Missioner in South London then Vicar of St Paul's, Lorrimore Square; and later became Archdeacon of Worcester before his elevation to the episcopate. He was consecrated a bishop by Randall Davidson, Archbishop of Canterbury, on the Feast of the Conversion of St Paul 1921 (25 January) at Westminster Abbey. He died on 28 March 1938.
