Djarot Saiful Hidayat is an Indonesian politician who is currently a member of the People's Representative Council. He was the governor of Jakarta,in office between 15 June and 15 October 2017 after being acting governor since 9 May. He replaced his predecessor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama when the latter was found guilty of blasphemy against Islam. He was appointed by Basuki as Deputy Governor in 2014 to fill the gap left by the election of Joko Widodo as president.

He was also a lecturer in the Cenderawasih University,with his last position in the university being the head of the university's democratic center.
Local elections to elect governors,mayors and regents in Indonesia will be held on 27 November 2024 across 548 regions:37 provinces,415 regencies and 93 cities,which covered all provinces except Yogyakarta Special Region and all cities/regencies except the constituents of Jakarta. The previous local executive elections were held in 2020. The elections will be the first time regional leaders are all elected simultaneously nationwide in Indonesia.
The 2024 Papua gubernatorial election will be held on 27 November 2024 as part of nationwide local elections to elect the governor of Papua province for a five-year term. The previous election was held in 2018.
