Johnell Davis (born May 23, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the Arkansas Razorbacks of the Southeastern Conference.

High school career

Davis played basketball for 21st Century Charter School in Gary, Indiana. As a senior, he averaged 31.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 2.6 assists per game, earning player of the year honors from the Post-Tribune and The Times of Northwest Indiana . [1] [2] He helped his team win four straight sectional titles. [3] Davis broke the school's career and single-game (53) scoring records held by Eugene German. He committed to play college basketball for Florida Atlantic over offers from Northern Illinois, Miami (Ohio) and Kent State. [2]

College career

As a freshman at Florida Atlantic, Davis averaged 3.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. [4] In his sophomore season, he averaged 6.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Davis moved into a leading role as a junior, despite initially coming off the bench due to injuries. [5] He helped Florida Atlantic achieve its best season in program history, with Conference USA regular season and tournament titles. Davis was named first-team All-C-USA and C-USA Sixth Player of the Year. [6] In the second round of the 2023 NCAA tournament, he recorded 29 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals in a 78–70 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. [7] In FAU's victory, Davis became the first player in NCAA Tournament history to tally 25 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals in a single game. [8] [9]

The Florida Atlantic Owls men's basketball team represents Florida Atlantic University and competes in the American Athletic Conference of NCAA Division I college basketball. Their home games are played on the Abessinio Court in the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on the school's Boca Raton, Florida campus. The Owls have appeared in the NCAA tournament three times, in 2002 while a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, 2023, and 2024. The Owls joined Conference USA (C-USA) in 2013 as part of the early-2010s NCAA conference realignment. After not winning a single NCAA Tournament game coming into 2023, the Owls qualified for their first Final Four in program history by defeating the Kansas State Wildcats 79–76. After the 2022–23 season, FAU left C-USA for the American Athletic Conference.

She played college basketball for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and led the team to three consecutive Final Fours and two consecutive NCAA championship appearances. The 2010–11 Temple Owls men's basketball team represented Temple University in the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team played their home games at the Liacouras Center, which has a capacity of 10,206. The Owls were in their 29th season as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. In the previous season, Temple Owls gained a record of 29–6 and reached the NCAA tournament. The team returned three starters from the previous season, but leading scorer Ryan Brooks and point guard Luis Guzman left, having graduated. They were replaced by new players Aaron Brown, Anthony Lee, and Jimmy McDonnell and graduate student transfer Dutch Gaitley. In the off-season, other Atlantic 10 coaches predicted that Temple Owls would win the league.

The 2022–23 Florida Atlantic Owls men's basketball team represented Florida Atlantic University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Owls were led by fifth-year head coach Dusty May and played their home games at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena in Boca Raton, Florida as members of Conference USA. The Owls finished the season 35–4, 18–2 in C-USA play to win the regular season championship. They defeated Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, and UAB to win the C-USA tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 9 seed in the East region. They defeated Memphis in the first round which marked the school's first NCAA tournament win. They then defeated Fairleigh Dickinson to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. The Owls defeated Tennessee and Kansas State to advance to the school's first Final Four. This made FAU the first men's team since George Mason in 2006 to reach the Final Four in the same season that it earned its first NCAA tournament win. In the Final Four, they lost to San Diego State.
