Johnny Doyle is a Gaelic footballer who played for Allenwood and, formerly, at senior level for the Kildare county team.
Doyle has won one Agricultural Colleges All-Ireland. His talents are very versatile and he has won an All-Ireland Cross Country Athletic College medal and won several boxing medals. [1] Doyle also more recently[ when? ] has taken up a managerial role with the Maynooth Sigerson first team.
Doyle plays his club football for Allenwood and was awarded Kildare Footballer of the Year in 2004 and 2005. He won the Kildare Senior Football Championship with Allenwood in 2004. Doyle and Allenwood's form continued in 2006 with a Kildare Senior Football Championship final appearance against Moorefield.
He did not miss a championship match for his club between his debut in 1995 and 2022 (when he had an injury) and started every championship match for his club between 2000 and 2013. [2] [3]
On the 14th September 2024, Doyle announced his retirement from Club Football. [4]
Doyle won one Leinster Senior Football Championship medal with Kildare in 2000 and a Kildare Under-21 county title. He was all round top scorer in the 2008 and 2010 Championships. Doyle was named as a 2010 Vodafone GAA football All Star for his performances with Kildare in the 2010 Championship. In 2012 Doyle captained Kildare to the National Football League Division 2 title with a win over Tyrone. In 2012 and 2013 he was on the Kildare team to win the O'Byrne Cup. Doyle announced his retirement from inter-county football on 6 April 2014, at the age of 36. On his retirement Doyle had appeared 154 times for his county over a 15-year span.
In 2019, at the age of 41, he made a surprise return to the inter-county game when he joined the Kildare junior team.
Doyle was called up for the 2013 International Rules Series as a replacement for Aidan O'Shea ahead of the second Test. [5] He played for Ireland against Australia at Croke Park and won the Series. [6]

The Kildare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kildare GAA, is one of 12 county boards governed by the Leinster provincial council of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Kildare. The Lillie's play in the second tier of county football.

He plays his club football for Kilmacud Crokes and played for the Dublin senior football team between 1996 and 2008. Bernard Brogan is a Gaelic footballer from the St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh club who previously played for the Dublin county team. He is originally from the Battery Heights. From a famous footballing family, he is the son of former All-Ireland winning and All Star player Bernard Brogan Snr and is the brother of former Dublin players Alan and Paul. Anthony Rainbow is a Gaelic football manager and former player from County Kildare, Ireland. He played with the Kildare county team for almost 20 years with whom he won two Leinster Senior Football Championship medals, in 1998 and 2000. He played in the 1998 All Ireland Senior Football final where Kildare lost out to Galway. He won an All Star in 1998. He also won an O'Byrne Cup medal in 2003. He played with Ireland in the International Rules Series in 2001. He announced his retirement after Kildare's defeat to Down in the All Ireland semi-final in 2010.
Paul Murphy is an Irish hurler who plays for Intermediate Championship club Danesfort. He is a former player with the Kilkenny senior hurling team, with whom he made 94 league and championship appearances in a decade-long inter-county career. Widely considered to be one of the best defenders of his generation, Murphy was the recipient of four All-Stars.
Kieran Joyce is an Irish hurler. His league and championship career with the Kilkenny senior team lasted seven seasons from 2011 until 2017.
