Filipino singer Jona has released two studio albums, one extended play and fifteen singles (including nine promotional singles). In addition, her songs have been used in 23 films and television series. In 2005, she won the television talent show Pinoy Pop Superstar and released her solo debut album On My Own the same year. It was certified Gold by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI), selling 15,000 units in the country. [1] In 2013, she released her debut EP Jonalyn Viray under Creative Media Entertainment. Upon release, it became one of Astrovision /Astroplus best sellers [2] and spawned the commercially successful single "Help Me Get Over". The song won 'Song of the Year' at the 6th PMPC Star Awards for Music [3] and earned nominations at Myx Music Awards. [4]

Contents

Her self-titled sophomore album Jona (2017) proved to be a major success. It was the best-selling album of the year while Jona was awarded the most streamed and most downloaded artist of the year at the 31st Awit Awards. [5] The album received Gold and Platinum certifications from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. [6] The success of the albums' carrier singles "Maghihintay Ako", "You" and "Pusong Ligaw" made her become the first Filipino artist to simultaneously chart three songs within the Top 10 of Billboard Philippines Top 20. [7] [8] She earned five nominations at the 9th PMPC Star Awards for Music including 'Album of the Year' and 'Female Artist of the Year'. [9] In 2018, Jona released the R&B song "Take It to Forever", a collaboration with Jay R and REQ. It won 'Best R&B Recording' at the 32nd Awit Awards. [10]

Slapshock was a Filipino heavy metal band from Metro Manila. They were formed in 1997, originally as a nu metal act, with their early musical style compared to that of Korn. They later shifted towards a metalcore style.

She is tagged as the "Philippines' Sentimental Diva" and the "former supreme songbird of ABS-CBN". She was formerly dubbed as the "90s Philippine Pop Queen". She started her career as a part of ABS-CBN's defunct youth-oriented show Ang TV (1992–1997) together with Jolina Magdangal, Claudine Barretto, Antoinette Taus, etc. She was also a regular host and performer of ASAP, the Philippines longest variety show, from 1995 to 2004 and since 2015.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">IV of Spades</span> Filipino pop funk band

IV of Spades was a Filipino rock band from Metro Manila, Philippines, consisting of vocalist, bassist and keyboardist Zild Benitez, vocalist and lead guitarist Blaster Silonga, and drummer Badjao de Castro. Unique served as the band's lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist until he left the band in 2018. The band first gained exposure with the release of their 4th single "Mundo". On August 21, 2020, the band entered an indefinite hiatus.

Filipino singer Lani Misalucha has released eight studio albums, two live albums, five compilation albums, one extended play (EP) and 21 singles. She started as a lounge performer in hotels and bars, became a vocalist in various bands and a singer for several commercial jingles and multiplex tapes. She rose to prominence in 1996 with the release of the revival single "Somebody Warm Like Me", followed by her debut album More Than I Should (1997) under Alpha Records.
