Joséde Oliveira Fernandes (1 December 1943 —12 October 2020) was a Brazilian politician,economist and university professor. He served as mayor of Manaus and member of the Chamber of Deputies,as well as federal Secretary of Housing and Urbanism and Secretary of Works.
Fernandes was born in Careiro on 1 December 1943. The son of Benjamim Matias Fernandes and Maria de Oliveira Fernandes,he graduated in Economy in 1968 at the Federal University of Amazonas and specialized with the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean on the following year. [1] In 1970 he became head professor of the Federal University of Amazonas and advisor to the Department of Highways of Amazonas,a position which he kept for a year. Appointed Secretary of Transport in 1975 by governor Enoque Reis,he left office in 1978 when he was elected federal deputy of the Amazonas. [2]
Approximately 45 days after his inauguration,he asked governor JoséLindoso to be appointed mayor of Manaus, [1] remaining in office for three years (his seat in the Chamber of Deputies was occupied by Ubaldino Meireles),until he resigned in order to be reelected federal deputy by the Democratic Social Party (PDS) in the 1982 elections. [2] In the new legislature he missed the vote on the Dante de Oliveira amendment in 1984 and voted for Paulo Maluf in the 1985 Brazilian presidential election.
In the 1986 elections,Fernandes entered the Democratic Labour Party (PDT) and was re-elected to join the National Constituent Assembly responsible for 1988 Brazilian Constitution; [1] at the beginning of the Collor Government he migrated to the Social Labor Party (PST),which he led in the Chamber of Deputies, [1] but was not re-elected in the 1990 elections. After leaving Brasília,he worked in the private sector in a construction company and later as general director of the Boas Novas television network. In the second Amazonino Mendes government he was Secretary of Housing and Urbanism and later Secretary of Works.
Fernandes died on October 12,2020,at the age of 76,from complications of COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. [3]
Carlos Eduardo de Sousa Braga is a Brazilian politician and businessman,currently a republic senator from Amazonas. Better known as Eduardo Braga,he was a councilman of Manaus (1981–1985),state deputy of amazonas (1987–1991),federal deputy from amazonas (1991–1993),vice-mayor of Manaus (1993–1994) and mayor of Manaus (1994–1997). He campaigned for the government of Amazonas in 1998 and for the city hall of Manaus in 2000 without success. He was elected governor of Amazonas in October 2002,in the first turn,with 52.4% of the votes,and assumed office on 1 January 2003. In 2006,Braga was re-elected,in the first turn. He renounced in 2010 to run for the Senate on the elections of that year.
Vanessa Grazziotin Bezerra is a Brazilian politician. She is a member of the Communist Party of Brazil. Although born in Videira,Santa Catarina,Grazziotin based her political career in the state of Amazonas. Twice elected to represent the state in the Chamber of Deputies,she was recently elected for the Federal Senate in the 2010 parliamentary election. She is the third Communist Senator ever in the history of Brazil,after Luís Carlos Prestes and Inácio Arruda. She is also Amazonas' communist first female Senator. Vanessa was a senator in the Brazilian state of Amazonas for eight years.
Omar JoséAbdel Aziz is a Brazilian politician. He served as the governor of the Brazilian state of Amazonas from March 31,2010,to 2014,following the resignation of his predecessor,Eduardo Braga,to become a Senator. Member of a family of Arab and Italian descent,Omar has already held the post of Alderman in Manaus and Amazonas State Assemblyman in the 1990. In 1996,he was elected Deputy Mayor of Manaus with Alfredo Nascimento as holder in Office. In 2000,were re-elected,but in May 2002,Omar left the post to compete with Eduardo Braga plate to the State Government as deputy-governor,election in which they were elected. In 2006,he was reelected with Braga. In 2008 was apply for as mayor of Manaus by PMN,having won the third place. In 2010,with the resignation of Braga to the State Government to run for Senate,Aziz took over the Government. In the elections of that year,he was re-elected Governor in the first round with 64% of the vote. In 2011,was one of the co-founders of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). Did the same as Braga in 2014 leaving the office of Governor and your vice-Governor,JoséMelo de Oliveira,took the office.

Although born in Rio Grande do Sul,he spent his political career representing Rio de Janeiro,having served as federal deputy for nine consecutive terms from 1986 to 2019 and federal senator from 2019 until he died of COVID-19 in October 2020.
