Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a Nigerian writer and activist. The continent of Africa is one of the regions most rife with contemporary slavery. Slavery in Africa has a long history,within Africa since before historical records,but intensifying with the trans-Saharan and Indian Ocean slave trade and again with the trans-Atlantic slave trade;the demand for slaves created an entire series of kingdoms which existed in a state of perpetual warfare in order to generate the prisoners of war necessary for the lucrative export of slaves. These patterns persisted into the colonial period during the late 19th and early 20th century. Although the colonial authorities attempted to suppress slavery around 1900,their attempts were largely ineffective. Even after decolonization,slavery continues in many parts of Africa despite being officially illegal.

She succeeds Professor Patrick Eya as the university's first female deputy vice-chancellor (academic).
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) is a law enforcement agency of the federal government of Nigeria. It was established in July,2003 to combat human trafficking and other similar human rights violations.
Rita Orji is a Nigerian-Canadian computer scientist who is a Canada Research Chair in Persuasive Technology,a Professor,and the Director of the Persuasive Computing Lab at Dalhousie University. Her work is in the area of human–computer interaction with a major focus on designing interactive systems to achieve health and well being objectives. Lolo Cecilia Ezeilo is a Nigerian politician,lawyer,philanthropist and television presenter,who served as Deputy Governor of Enugu State from May 2015 to May 2023.
The Edo State Task Force Against Human Trafficking (ETAHT) is a Nigerian task force established by the Edo State Government to tackle human trafficking and irregular migration in the state,as well as the stigma that comes with it,State Task Force against human trafficking,is currently replicated in a host of southern states such as Ondo,Delta,Oyo,Lagos,Enugu,Ekiti States,etc. Prof. Yinka Omorogbe the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice,Edo State,is also the chairman of the task force. In the year 2017,Mr Godwin Obaseki inaugurated the state task force on anti-human trafficking. The members of the task force were inaugurated at the Government House in Benin City,the state capital. The Edo Task Force Against Human Trafficking is said to have received about 5,619 returnees from Libya en-route Europe from 2017 till date.

Florence Onyebuchi Orabueze is a poet,writer and a Nigerian professor of English and literary studies. She was a former director of the Institute of African studies of the institution,the founder of the Grace Uzoma Okonkwo Foundation and a member of Nigerian Academy of Letters.
