Allen Howard Weisselberg is an American businessman who was convicted of tax evasion in connection with his role as former chief financial officer (CFO) of the Trump Organization. Weisselberg served as a co-trustee of a trust set up in 2017 by Donald Trump before Trump's inauguration as president of the United States. In 2022,Weisselberg pleaded guilty to 15 criminal charges including grand larceny,criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records. In January 2023,he began serving a five-month jail sentence and was released the following April. A ruling which was handed down in February 2024 also resulted in Weisselberg being permanently banned from serving in financial control function of any New York corporation or business,and also banned him from serving as a director or officer for any New York corporation or business for three years. In 2024,he pleaded guilty to perjury and was sentenced to another five months in prison,which he immediately began serving in April 2024.
The Stormy Daniels–Donald Trump scandal or the Donald Trump hush-money scandal involves an alleged one-night sexual encounter in 2006 between businessman and later U.S. president Donald Trump and pornographic film actress Stormy Daniels,a conspiracy on the part of Trump to cover up the story in the month prior to the 2016 U.S. presidential election,and Trump's falsification of business records as part of the conspiracy. The story broke in 2018,when The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen paid US$130,000 to Daniels as hush money to buy her silence during the 2016 Trump campaign.
The two criminal trials of Paul Manafort were the first cases brought to trial by the special counsel's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Manafort served as campaign chair for the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign from June 20 to August 19,2016. In July 2017,the FBI conducted a raid of Manafort's home,authorized by search warrant under charges of interference in the 2016 election. Manafort and his business assistant Rick Gates were both indicted and arrested in October 2017 for charges of conspiracy against the United States,making false statements,money laundering,and failing to register as foreign agents for Ukraine. Mark Floyd Pomerantz is an American attorney. He is a member of the New York law firm Paul,Weiss,Rifkind,Wharton &Garrison,generally referred to as Paul,Weiss. In February 2021,he left that firm to assist with the Manhattan District Attorney's investigation into the finances of former president Donald Trump until his resignation from the case in February 2022.
Alvin Leonard Bragg Jr. is an American politician and lawyer who serves as the New York County District Attorney,covering Manhattan. In 2021,he became the first African American elected to that office. Bragg had previously served as Chief Deputy Attorney General of New York and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York. The United States Justice Department investigation into attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election began in early 2021 with investigations and prosecutions of hundreds of individuals who participated in the January 6,2021 attack on the United States Capitol. By early 2022,the investigation had expanded to examine Donald Trump's inner circle,with the Justice Department impaneling several federal grand juries to investigate the attempts to overturn the election. While a petty officer in the U.S. Navy,he was Trump's valet at the White House. After Trump's term ended,Nauta continued to work for him at Trump's Mar-a-Lago club and residence.
