Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire,England,whose name derives from the River Sheaf which runs through it. The city serves as the administrative centre of the City of Sheffield. It is historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire and some of its southern suburbs were transferred from Derbyshire to the city council. It is the largest settlement in South Yorkshire.
The Hope Valley line is a trans-Pennine railway line in Northern England,linking Manchester with Sheffield. It was completed in 1894.

Tapton School has approximately 1,650 pupils,aged between 11 and 18 years old. Tapton officially opened in 1960,but in 2000 the school was rebuilt under the Private Finance Initiative. Students and faculties officially moved to the new building in September 2001.

A combined authority (CA) is a type of local government institution introduced in England outside Greater London by the Local Democracy,Economic Development and Construction Act 2009. Sheffield City Council elections took place on Thursday 5 May 2016,alongside nationwide local elections. All 84 seats were up for election,3 per ward,after several electoral boundaries were changed. Labour,the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party contested all 84 seats. The Conservatives fielded 55 candidates,UKIP 43,TUSC 23 and Yorkshire First 1. There was also 1 independent candidate. Voters in the Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough Parliamentary constituency also elected Gill Furniss MP,in a by-election triggered by the death of her husband Harry Harpham MP.

The inaugural West Yorkshire mayoral election was held on Thursday 6 May 2021 to elect the Mayor of West Yorkshire. It took place simultaneously on the same day as other local elections across the United Kingdom,including council elections in each of the five metropolitan boroughs of West Yorkshire.
The Sheffield tree felling protests were a series of protests and unrest happening between 2014 and 2018 in Sheffield,South Yorkshire,England. The protests began as a response to the mass felling of healthy street trees across Sheffield since 2012 as part of the controversial ‘Streets Ahead’Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract signed by Sheffield City Council (SCC),Amey plc and the Department for Transport.
Northern England devolution is the broad term used to describe the wish for devolved governmental powers that would give more autonomy to the Northern Counties.
The 2022 South Yorkshire mayoral election took place on 5 May 2022 to elect the Mayor of South Yorkshire,the leader of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. It took place alongside other local elections across the United Kingdom. The Labour Party candidate,Oliver Coppard,won the election in the second round with 71.4% of the vote.
