Julie Pazina is an American politician who has served as a Democratic member of the Nevada Senate since 2022,representing District 12 in Clark County.
Pazina grew up in Atlanta,Georgia,where she lived until her family moved to Las Vegas in 2002. [1] Her mother worked at The Atlanta Journal Constitution as an editor. [1]
She began campaigning for local political candidates at age 11,helping with phone banking and door-to-door outreach. [1]
She pursued her education at Vanderbilt University,where she was a double major in political science and communication studies. [1]
After graduation,she worked in the advertising industry,and in 2002 she moved to Las Vegas while working as assistant cruise director and a port cruise consultant. Upon her move to Las Vegas,she embarked upon Edlen Electrical Exhibition Services and is the company's vice president of business development and oversees sales that take place within the Las Vegas market and around the country. The Edlen company is family-owned and is the largest independent utility contractor for conventions,special events,and trade shows. [2]
In 2011,she received the Young Professionals of the Year award from the International Association of Exhibitions and Events. Additionally,in 2013 she received tenure as the president of the Las Vegas Hospitality Association,in which she worked for six years prior to receiving her tenure. [2] In 2019 the International Association of Exhibitions and Events dubbed her with yet another award,this time with the Woman Of Achievement title. [3]
In 2018,Pazina ran for Senate District 20,losing by 24 votes. [4] [5]
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic,Pazina was appointed by the governor to the Commission on Tourism and the Commission's Covid-19 Recovery Committee. [2]
In 2022,former Senator Joe Hardy termed out,and a seat was opened in which Pazina ran as a Democrat against Republican Cherlyn Arrington,and took the victory with 52.5% of the vote to Cherlyn Arrington's 47.5%. [6] As senator,she chairs the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and serves on both the Commerce and Labor and Growth and Infrastructure committees. [7]
Pazina is married to her husband Joel and has two Golden Retrievers. [1]
John Eric Ensign is an American veterinarian and former politician who served as a United States Senator from Nevada from 2001 until his resignation in 2011 amid a Senate Ethics Committee investigation into his attempts to hide an extramarital affair. A member of the Republican Party,Ensign previously represented Nevada's 1st congressional district in the House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. Following his resignation from the Senate,Ensign returned to Nevada and resumed his career as a veterinarian.

Alice Constandina "Dina" Titus is an American political scientist and politician who has been the United States representative for Nevada's 1st congressional district since 2013. She served as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2009 to 2011,when she was defeated by Joe Heck. Titus is a member of the Democratic Party. She served in the Nevada Senate and was its minority leader from 1993 to 2009. Before her election to Congress,Titus was a professor of political science at the University of Nevada,Las Vegas (UNLV),where she taught American and Nevada government for 30 years. She was the Democratic nominee for governor of Nevada in 2006.
Catherine Marie Cortez Masto is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Nevada,a seat she has held since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party,Cortez Masto served as the 32nd attorney general of Nevada from 2007 to 2015.
Steven Alexzander Horsford is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 4th congressional district since 2019,previously holding the position from 2013 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party,he served in the Nevada Senate,representing the 4th district,in Clark County,from 2005 to 2013. Horsford was the first African American to serve as Majority Leader (2009–2013) and the first African American to represent Nevada in Congress. He lost to Republican nominee Cresent Hardy in 2014.

The Culinary Workers Union,UNITE HERE Local 226 is a local union affiliated with UNITE HERE which operates in the Las Vegas metropolitan area of Nevada. Members include a variety of occupations organized along craft lines working in restaurants,hotels and laundries,in the casinos in the Las Vegas metropolitan area and Reno,as well as Harry Reid International Airport and Valley Hospital Medical Center. While most Culinary members work in casinos,the union does not represent dealers and other employees directly providing gaming services. The union also has a partnership with the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas,which Hattie Canty,the first African-American woman elected to be president of the Culinary Union,was instrumental in organizing. Local 165 of UNITE HERE represents bartenders in Las Vegas although the two locals negotiate contracts in tandem.

Patricia Ann Spearman is an American cleric,veteran,and Democratic politician from North Las Vegas,Nevada. She was elected in November 2012 to the Nevada Senate representing District 1,that is composed of the northern section of North Las Vegas and slivers of neighboring jurisdictions,after defeating incumbent John Jay Lee in the primary,and winning the general election. Spearman became the first openly lesbian member of the Nevada Legislature. She was re-elected in November 2016,and serves as co-majority whip since. Regarded as one of the most liberal members of the Nevada Senate,Spearman has introduced bills that provide equal pay for women,support LGBT rights,and support veterans. Spearman is also a supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. Moreover,she was involved in the process of establishing the Nevada Revenue Plan during the 2015 session. On October 6,2021,Spearman entered the 2022 race for Mayor of North Las Vegas,Nevada.
