Joseph Paul Hardy (born May 15,1949) is a former Republican member of the Nevada Senate,representing District 12. Hardy was first elected to the Senate in 2010 when,before redistricting and a change in the nomenclature of the districts,he represented Clark County Number 12. His district represents rural areas of southeast Clark County including the communities of Boulder City,Laughlin,Searchlight,Henderson,Overton,Bunkerville,Mesquite,as well as Nellis Air Force Base,Lake Mead,and Valley of Fire State Park. Hardy previously represented Clark County District 20 from 2002 to 2010.
He served a LDS mission in France. [2] Hardy is currently an Associate Professor and Staff Physician in the Department of Primary Care at Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine. [3]
Rochelle Berkley is an American businesswoman,politician and attorney who has served as Mayor of Las Vegas since 2024. She also previously served as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 1st congressional district from 1999 to 2013. In 2012,she was the unsuccessful Democratic Party nominee for the U.S. Senate. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Berkley ran for Mayor of Las Vegas in 2024. On November 7,2024,Berkley became the Mayor-Elect of Las Vegas as her opponent,Las Vegas Councilwoman Victoria Seaman,conceded the race. Berkley was then sworn into office on December 4,2024.
Alice Constandina "Dina" Titus is an American politician who has been the United States representative for Nevada's 1st congressional district since 2013. She served as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2009 to 2011,when she was defeated by Joe Heck. Titus is a member of the Democratic Party. She served in the Nevada Senate and was its minority leader from 1993 to 2009. Before her election to Congress,Titus was a professor of political science at the University of Nevada,Las Vegas (UNLV). She was the Democratic nominee for governor of Nevada in 2006.
Robert T. Beers is an American accountant (CPA) and member of the Republican Party. He was previously an elected member of the Nevada Assembly from 1998 to 2004,the Nevada Senate from 2005 to 2008,and the Las Vegas City Council from 2012 to 2017. He ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for Governor of Nevada in 2006. In January 2014,he announced that he would run against Democratic Senator Harry Reid in the 2016 U.S. Senate election,but he withdrew from the race in June 2015. In 2018,he was defeated for Nevada State Treasurer by Zach Conine.
The Nevada Senate is the upper house of the Nevada Legislature,the state legislature of U.S. state of Nevada,the lower house being the Nevada Assembly. It currently (2012–2021) consists of 21 members from single-member districts. In the previous redistricting (2002–2011) there were 19 districts,two of which were multimember. Since 2012,there have been 21 districts,each formed by combining two neighboring state assembly districts. Each state senator represented approximately 128,598 as of the 2010 United States census. Article Four of the Constitution of Nevada sets that state senators serve staggered four-year terms.
Dean Arthur Heller is an American businessman and politician who served as a United States senator representing Nevada from 2011 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party,he served as the 15th secretary of state of Nevada from 1995 to 2007 and U.S. representative for Nevada's 2nd congressional district from 2007 to 2011. He was appointed to the U.S. Senate by Governor Brian Sandoval and elected to a full term in the 2012 election. Heller unsuccessfully ran for a second term in 2018,losing to Democrat Jacky Rosen. He was an unsuccessful candidate for governor of Nevada in 2022,and is currently the last Republican to win a Nevada U.S. Senate seat.
Catherine Marie Cortez Masto is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Nevada,a seat she has held since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party,Cortez Masto served as the 32nd attorney general of Nevada from 2007 to 2015.
Joseph John Heck is an American physician and politician who served as the United States representative for Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2011 to 2017. Heck is a retired United States Army major general and a board-certified physician who previously served as a Nevada state senator from 2004 to 2008. He ran for the United States Senate in 2016,losing to Catherine Cortez Masto.
Warren B. Hardy II is a Republican member of the Nevada Senate,representing Clark County District 12 since 2002. Previously he served in the Nevada Assembly in 1991.
Steven Alexzander Horsford is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 4th congressional district since 2019,previously holding the position from 2013 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party,he served in the Nevada Senate,representing the 4th district,in Clark County,from 2005 to 2013. Horsford was the first African American to serve as Majority Leader (2009–2013) and the first African American to represent Nevada in Congress. He lost to Republican nominee Cresent Hardy in 2014.
Kim Lee Ward is an American politician who currently serves as President pro tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate. She was first elected to the state senate in 2008,and represents the 39th Senatorial District which covers the central portions of Westmoreland County,Pennsylvania. Following the resignation of Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman,Ward became acting lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania on January 3,2023,and served until January 17,2023. She is the first female president pro tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate.
