These regional cinemas play a crucial role in preserving and promoting the linguistic and cultural heritage of the country. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened. A 1928 short silent film titled Sukumari was the first Bengali-produced film in the region. The first full-length film, The Last Kiss, was released in 1931.

He is known for his considerable research works on Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jibanananda Das, Farrukh Ahmad, Syed Waliullah, Manik Bandyopadhyay, Bishnu De, Samar Sen, Roquiah Sakhawat Hossain, Abdul Ghani Hazari, Muhammad Wajed Ali, Prabodh Chandra Sen. Jagannath University (JnU) is a public university located in Sadarghat, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Founded as Dhaka Brahma School in 1858 and renamed Jagannath School in 1872, the institution was taken over by the Pakistani government in 1968, while Bangladesh was still a part of Pakistan. It opened graduate and post-graduate programmes in 1975 and was approved as a full public university in 2005.
Sanjeeb Choudhury was a Bangladeshi singer-songwriter, writer, journalist and political activist. He was one of the two leading members of the Bengali band Dalchhut with Bappa Mazumder and was the composer for Dalchhut's four albums. 1971 Dhaka University massacre was the mass murder of students and faculty at the University of Dhaka in East Pakistan by the Pakistan Army, at the beginning of what would become the Bangladesh Liberation War. In March 1971, the Pakistan Army Eastern Wing Commander Tikka Khan launched Operation Searchlight on the orders of dictator Yahya Khan to crush the Bengali nationalist movement. As part of the operation, the army launched an assault on the university campus. It is the deadliest university attack in history.

Ali Riaz is a Bangladeshi American political scientist and writer. He is a Distinguished Professor at Illinois State University where he joined in 2002. Most of his work deals with religion and politics, particularly on South Asian politics and political Islam. He has written extensively on Bangladeshi politics and madrasas in South Asia. He was the editor of Studies on Asia, a bi-annual journal of the Midwestern Conference on Asian Affairs (2010–2015). He was also a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars at Washington DC during the Fall of 2013. He is a non-resident senior fellow with the South Asia Center of the Atlantic Council.

Sayeem popularly known as Sayeem Rana is a Bangladeshi singer, composer, music director, poet and professor. His full name is Md. Ziaur Rahman. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards in best music director category for the film Nekabborer Mohaproyan in 2014. and Prothom Alo Best Book Award 1416. He is the assistant professor at the Department of Music of Dhaka University.
Mahfuz Ullah was a Bangladeshi writer, journalist, television personality and environmentalist. He was notable for environmental journalism in Bangladesh. He was the founder Secretary General of the Center for Sustainable Development - (CFSD).
Khaled Muhiuddin is a Bangladeshi journalist, talk show presenter and writer. He is known as the presenter of the popular talk show of Independent Satellite Channel Independent Television of Ajker Bangladesh, which he formerly hosted. Mohiuddin also worked as head of the German-based international media, Deutsche Welle Bangla Department.
