Junaid Halim is a Bangladeshi film actor and editor. He is also one of the renowned professors of film studies in Bangladesh. He was the chairman of the Film & TV department at Jagannath University, one of the reputed public universities in Bangladesh [1] . He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Editing three times for the films Shankhonad (2004), Britter Baire (2009) and Maya: The Lost Mother (2019). [2]

Early life

Junaid Halim was born in Madhabdi municipality area in Narsingdi District under Dhaka division. His parents are late A. J. M Abdul Halim Mollah and late Rijia Halim.

Education

Professor Junaid Halim obtained his honors and masters degrees from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka (1983-87). He later have flown to India to pursue his higher education at the Film and Television Institute, Pune and completed his Diploma in Cinema (Specialization in Editing) in (1995-1996). He returned to Dhaka later and joined as a lecturer of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Jagannath University.

The Bangladeshi Cinema, better known as Dhallywood, is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Sanjeeb Choudhury was a Bangladeshi singer-songwriter, writer, journalist and political activist. He was one of the two leading members of the Bengali band Dalchhut with Bappa Mazumder and was the composer for Dalchhut's four albums. He was also a journalist and worked for the newspaper Ajker Kagoj, Bhorer Kagoj, and Jaijaidin. He was an activist during the mass upsurge against the autocratic regime of Hossain Mohammad Ershad.

1971 Dhaka University massacre refers to the massacre of students and faculty at the University of Dhaka in East Pakistan by the Pakistan Army, at the beginning of what would become the Bangladesh Liberation War. In March 1971, the Pakistan Army Eastern Wing Commander Tikka Khan launched Operation Searchlight on the orders of dictator Yahya Khan to crush the Bengali nationalist movement. As part of the operation, the army launched an assault on the university campus.

SM Haroon-or-Rashid is a Bangladeshi journalist and dramatist. He is the current Director General of Bangladesh Television since 14 January 2016. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Dialogue for the film Putro (2018).
