Just Survive was a survival massively multiplayer online game by Daybreak Game Company for Windows. [3] The game, originally known as H1Z1 and later as H1Z1: Just Survive, is set during a zombie apocalypse in a rural area of the United States. In it, players attempt to survive against the natural elements such as wolves and bears, hordes of zombies, and thousands of potentially hostile survivors through interaction, scavenging for resources, building shelters, and crafting. The game was released in early access in January 2015, selling over a million copies within two months, before being discontinued in October 2018.
The gameplay of Just Survive emphasized multiplayer cooperation, trading, and team-building. Players scavenge supplies, craft items, and build strongholds to defend against the zombie horde. [4] The main focus of the game involved surviving against zombies through teamwork with other players, rather than having a player versus player (PvP) environment with zombies as a backdrop. [5]
The game was released for Windows via Steam as an early access title on January 15, 2015. [6] The game suffered from several issues at launch. [7] A short-lived bug that crashed the game's servers was also introduced through a patch meant to fix other problems. [8] The game sold over a million copies within two months. [9]
In February 2016, Daybreak announced that the game, originally known as simply H1Z1 had split into two separate projects with their own dedicated development teams, subtitled Just Survive and King of the Kill . [10] In August 2017, the game's title dropped the H1Z1 brand name, becoming simply Just Survive. [11] The game was delisted from the Steam store on August 26, 2018, and its servers shut down on October 24, 2018. [12]

State of Decay is an action video game developed by Undead Labs and published by Microsoft Studios. The game's story follows an undercover agent named Kyle Crane who is sent to infiltrate a quarantine zone in a Middle-eastern city called Harran. It features an enemy-infested, open-world city with a dynamic day–night cycle, in which zombies are slow and clumsy during daytime but become extremely aggressive at night. The gameplay is focused on weapons-based combat and parkour, allowing players to choose fight or flight when presented with dangers. The game also features an asymmetrical multiplayer mode, and a four-player co-operative multiplayer mode.
7 Days to Die is a survival horror video game set in an open world developed by The Fun Pimps. It was released through Early Access on Steam for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X on December 13, 2013, and for Linux on November 22, 2014. Versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were released in 2016 through Telltale Publishing, but are no longer being developed. In late 2022, The Fun Pimps announced that the game will be re-released on consoles targeting Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. It is also available on Xbox One via Game Pass, but still unknown if it will return on PlayStation 4.
