Kahnuj (Persian : كهنوج‎, also Romanized as Kahnūj)^[1] is a village in Khursand Rural District, in the Central District of Shahr-e Babak County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its existence was noted, but its population was not reported.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Khursand Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Shahr-e Babak County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 13,057, in 2,887 families; excluding Khursand, the population was 5,210, in 1,224 families. The rural district has 39 villages.

The District has three cities: Shahr-e Babak, Khatunabad, and Khursand. The District has seven rural districts (dehestan): Estabraq Rural District, Khatunabad Rural District, Khursand Rural District, Madvarat Rural District, Meymand Rural District, and Pa Qaleh Rural District.
