Karen Shinkins (born 15 October 1976 in Newbridge, County Kildare) is a retired Irish sprinter who specialised in the 400 metres. [1] She represented her country at the 2000 Summer Olympics, as well as four consecutive World Championships, starting in 1999.[ citation needed ]
She has personal bests of 51.07 (1999) outdoors and 51.58 indoors (2002). The latter is still the national record.[ citation needed ]

Close to You is the second studio album by the American music duo the Carpenters, released on August 19, 1970. Karen Horney was a German psychoanalyst who practised in the United States during her later career. Her theories questioned some traditional Freudian views. This was particularly true of her theories of sexuality and of the instinct orientation of psychoanalysis. She is credited with founding feminist psychology in response to Freud's theory of penis envy. She disagreed with Freud about inherent differences in the psychology of men and women, and like Adler, she traced such differences to society and culture rather than biology.
Karen Nussbaum is an American labor leader and founding director of Working America. Nussbaum was born in Chicago where her mother, Annette Brenner Nussbaum, was a publicist, and her father, Myron "Mike" Nussbaum, was an exterminator, actor, and director. Her parents were active in the anti-Vietnam movement and worked to bring speakers to their community of Highland Park in Chicago including Staughton Lynd. During this time, the family was also receiving hate mail from the local John Birch Society. She enrolled in the University of Chicago in 1968 but dropped out to move to Boston and work in the anti-Vietnam movement. In 1975, she earned a B.A. from Goddard College. While in Boston, she began working as a clerical worker at Harvard where she was exposed to inequalities in the workplace for female office workers.
