The World Para Alpine Skiing Championships, known before the 2017 edition as the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships, along with the Winter Paralympic Games, are the most prestigious level of international competition in Paralympic alpine skiing. First held in 1974, the World Championships have been held every four years from 1982 to 2004; beginning in 2009, they have been held every other year, in odd-numbered years.
The 2016 Winter Youth Olympics, officially known as the II Winter Youth Olympic Games, took place in and around Lillehammer, Norway, between 12 February and 21 February 2016. They were the fourth Youth Olympic Games and the second winter edition. Lillehammer was awarded the games on 7 December 2011 as the only candidate. The games reused venues from the 1994 Winter Olympics; this made Lillehammer the first city to host both regular and Youth Olympics. In addition to Lillehammer, sports were contested in Hamar, Gjøvik and Øyer.
Alpine Skiing at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics was held at the Olympia Run Patscherkofel in Igls, Innsbruck, Austria from 14 to 22 January. The difference in the Youth Olympic program for alpine skiing compared to the Winter Olympics was that there were no downhill for both genders, and an inclusion of a team event.
Iran competed at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. Three athletes represented Iran in the 2012 Youth Olympics, two in alpine skiing and one in cross-country skiing. Yaghoub Kiashemshaki was the flagbearer for Iran in the opening ceremony.

Aanchal Thakur is an Indian female alpine skier. She represented India at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics that took place in Innsbruck. In the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics she took part in the Alpine skiing - Girl's Slalom and Girl's Giant Slalom events. Thakur became the first Indian skier to win a medal in an international skiing event in 2018.

The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2021 were held from 8–21 February in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. In May 2020, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and the event organizing committee asked the International Ski Federation (FIS) to postpone the event until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the request was rejected by FIS, and the organizers then moved forward with plans for 2021.
Kenya competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018. The country returned to the Winter Olympics, after last competing in 2006. The Kenyan team consisted of one female alpine skier, the first woman to compete for the country at the Winter Olympics.
