Khulna Division is the second largest of the eight divisions of Bangladesh. It has an area of 22,285 km2 (8,604 sq mi) and a population of 17,416,645 at the 2022 Bangladesh census. Its headquarters and largest city is Khulna city in Khulna District.

It is the divisional centre of 10 districts of the division. Khulna is also the second largest port city of Bangladesh after Chittagong because of Port of Mongla. Jessore District officially Jashore District, is a district in southwestern Bangladesh. It is bordered by India to the west, Khulna and Satkhira districts to the south, Khulna and Narail to the east, and Jhenaidah and Magura districts to the north. Jessore is the capital of the district. Jessore is the home of the ancestors of the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. Jashore was the first independent district of Bangladesh in 1971.

It is also used by the Bangladesh Air Force as part of BAF Matiur Rahman Base and training airfield for the Bangladesh Air Force Academy. Currently, it has seven daily flights to Dhaka and a weekly flight to Cox's Bazar. It is the only operational airport of the Khulna Division and the fifth busiest airport of Bangladesh. The airport is located 6 km west of downtown Jashore.

The Bandhan Express train is an international express rail service which runs between the Indian city Kolkata and the Bangladeshi city Khulna every week. It is the second modern day, fully air conditioned passenger train link between the Indian state West Bengal and Bangladesh. The Bengali word Bandhan means bonding when translated to English. It was initially referred to as the Maitree Express II. A valid visa and passport is required before purchasing a ticket for the Bandhan Express train. Tickets are available at Khulna railway station in Bangladesh and at Chitpur Station in Kolkata, India. The train service is currently paused indefinitely due to political upheaval in Bangladesh since July-August 2024.
Jashore Government City College is a post graduate educational institution located in Manihar area of Jashore District town in Khulna division of southern Bangladesh. At the time of its establishment, it was known as Jessore City College, which has been known as Jessore Government City College since 1986. At present, the college offers various subjects in higher secondary, undergraduate, honors, and postgraduate classes. At present, there are about 6,000 students here.
Dhaka–Jessore line is a 172 km long broad gauge railway. It was being constructed under the Ministry of Railways, Government of Bangladesh. The line connects the capital of Bangladesh to Jessore via Dhaka District, Narayanganj District, Munshiganj District, Shariatpur District, Madaripur District, Faridpur District, Gopalganj District, Bangladesh, and Narail District. It is a project related to Padma Bridge.
