The Khulna Division is the second largest of the eight divisions of Bangladesh. It has an area of 22,285 km2 (8,604 sq mi) and a population of 17,416,645 at the 2022 Bangladesh census. Its headquarters and largest city is Khulna city in Khulna District.
Jessore District, officially spelled Jashore District from April 2018, is a district in southwestern Bangladesh. It is bordered by India to the west, Khulna and Satkhira districts to the south, Khulna and Narail to the east, and Jhenaidah and Magura districts to the north. Currently it has seven daily flights to Dhaka and a weekly flight to Cox's Bazar. It is the only operational airport of the Khulna Division and the fifth busiest airport of Bangladesh.

The Bandhan Express train is an international express rail service which runs between the Indian city Kolkata and the Bangladeshi city Khulna every week. It is the second modern day, fully air conditioned passenger train link between the Indian state West Bengal and Bangladesh. The Bengali word Bandhan means bonding when translated to English. It was initially referred to as the Maitree Express II. A valid visa and passport is required before purchasing a ticket for the Bandhan Express train. Tickets are available at Khulna railway station in Bangladesh and at Chitpur Station in Kolkata, India. The train service is currently paused indefinitely due to political upheaval in Bangladesh since July-August 2024.
The Greater Jessore region predominantly includes the districts of Jessore, Jhenaidah, Narail and Magura in Bangladesh, as well as the Bangaon subdivision of India. Nestled close to the Sundarbans, the region experienced human settlement early on. It served as the capital city of the Samatata realm and passed through several Buddhist and Hindu kingdoms such as the Palas and Senas. Jessore was ruled by Khan Jahan Ali of Khalifatabad, under the Muslim Sultanate of Bengal, who is credited with establishing the Qasbah of Murali and urbanising the region through advancements in transportation and civilization. Jessore later came to be ruled by various chieftains such as Pratapaditya and became familiar to contemporary European travellers as Chandecan before being annexed to the Mughal Empire in the seventeenth century. By 1757, the British East India Company had dominated and started to establish themselves in the region. British rule lasted up until 1947, with Jessore coming under the Provisional Government of Bangladesh from 1971 onwards.
Government Sundarban Adarsha College is an educational institution located in the Khulna district of Bangladesh which was established on 1 July 1989. The college is currently imparting education at higher secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels under the Jessore Board of Education and National University.
Jashore Government City College is a post graduate educational institution located in Manihar area of Jashore District town in Khulna division of southern Bangladesh. At the time of its establishment, it was known as Jessore City College, which has been known as Jessore Government City College since 1986. At present, the college offers various subjects in higher secondary, undergraduate, honors, and postgraduate classes. At present, there are about 6,000 students here.
Dhaka–Jessore line is a 172 km long under construction broad gauge railway. It is being constructed under the Ministry of Railways, Government of Bangladesh. The line will connect the capital of Bangladesh to Jessore via Dhaka District, Narayanganj District, Munshiganj District, Shariatpur District, Madaripur District, Faridpur District, Gopalganj District, Bangladesh, and Narail District. It is a project related to Padma Bridge.
Magura is a city located on the banks of the Nabaganga River in south-western Bangladesh. Magura is the headquarters of Magura Sadar Upazila and Magura District. It is the fourth largest city in Khulna division, after Khulna, Kushtia and Jashore.
