The 1904 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the III Olympiad and commonly known as St. Louis 1904, was an international multi-sport event which was celebrated in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, from August 29 until September 3, 1904, as part of an extended sports program lasting from July 1 to November 23, 1904, located at what is now known as Francis Field on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis. It was the first time that the Olympic Games were held outside Europe.
Wrestling at the 1980 Summer Olympics was represented by twenty events. They were split into two disciplines : Freestyle and Greco-Roman. All events were held in the Wrestling hall of the Sports Complex of the Central Sports Club of the Army between 20 and 31 July.

Osvald Käpp was an Estonian wrestler who competed in freestyle and Greco-Roman lightweight events at the 1924, 1928 and 1932 Summer Olympics. He won the freestyle contest in 1928 and served as the Olympic flag bearer for Estonia in 1932. He also won two medals in Greco-Roman wrestling at the European championships in 1926–27.
Yang Jung-Mo is a retired South Korean Olympic freestyle wrestler and the first Olympic champion from South Korea. He received a gold medal in the featherweight division of wrestling at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
Arvo Jaakko Haavisto was a Finnish wrestler. He won a bronze medal at the 1924 Olympics and a gold medal in 1928, both in freestyle wrestling.
Shelby Autrie Wilson is an American wrestler and Olympic champion. A native of Ponca City, Oklahoma, he was a two-time high school state tournament runner-up, and in college he was a two-time NCAA runner-up. At the 1960 Olympic Trials, he finished in third place. At the Olympic Training Camp he successfully challenged the Trials' second and first-place finishers to gain the starting position. He won Olympic Gold in Rome in the freestyle lightweight division. The Olympics were the first major tournament Shelby ever won. He later became a high school wrestling coach at Owen Valley Community High School.
Sushil Kumar is an Indian wrestler. He carried the Indian flag at the opening ceremony of 2012 London Olympics. His 2008 Olympic medal was second for India in wrestling, and the first since Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav's bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics. In July 2009, he received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna – India's highest honour for sportspersons. On 3 October 2010, Kumar handed the Queen's Baton to Prince Charles in the Queen's Baton Relay for the 2010 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. Sushil won the gold medal in the 74 kg division at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Anthony "Tony" Granville Greig is a former lightweight freestyle wrestler from New Zealand. He won a bronze medal at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, and was eliminated in the second bout at the 1964 Summer Olympics.

Ochirbatyn Burmaa is a Mongolian freestyle wrestler. She competed in the freestyle 72 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics; she defeated Leah Callahan in the 1/8 finals and was eliminated by Maider Unda in the quarterfinals. She also competed in this weight category at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where she finished in 10th place.
Orgodolyn Üitümen is a Mongolian freestyle wrestler who won a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games. He competed in the freestyle 84 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated by Dato Marsagishvili in the 1/8 finals. At the 2015 World Wrestling Championships, he lost to Abdulrashid Sadulaev in round of 16. At the 2016 Olympics, he lost his first bout to Mihail Ganev.
Zurabi Iakobishvili is a Georgian freestyle wrestler. He won a gold medal at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships. He won a bronze medal at the 2017 European Wrestling Championships. He competed in the men's freestyle 65 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in which he was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Frank Chamizo.
Kenneth Bruce Reinsfield is a New Zealand wrestler. He competed in the men's freestyle 82 kg at the 1984 Summer Olympics. His younger brother Steve is also an Olympic wrestler.
