Klang is the third and final studio album by English indie rock band The Rakes,released on 23 March 2009. The album was preceded by the first single "1989" on 16 March. The Rakes recorded the album with Chris Zane in Berlin,Germany,a decision that lead singer Alan Donohoe explained is because "The London music scene is so dull--it's like wading through a swamp of shit. We just wanted to be somewhere more inspiring." [13] Hence the name of the album which is the German word for 'sound'.
Kraftwerk is a German electronic band formed in Düsseldorf in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. Widely considered innovators and pioneers of electronic music,Kraftwerk were among the first successful acts to popularize the genre. The group began as part of West Germany's experimental krautrock scene in the early 1970s before fully embracing electronic instrumentation,including synthesizers,drum machines,and vocoders. Wolfgang Flür joined the band in 1974 and Karl Bartos in 1975,expanding the band to a quartet.
Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle,Washington,in 1984 by singer and drummer Chris Cornell,lead guitarist Kim Thayil,and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Cornell switched to rhythm guitar in 1985,replaced on drums initially by Scott Sundquist,and later by Matt Cameron in 1986. Yamamoto left in 1990 and was replaced initially by Jason Everman and shortly thereafter by Ben Shepherd. The band dissolved in 1997 and re-formed in 2010. Following Cornell's death in 2017 and a year of uncertainty regarding the band's future,Thayil declared in October 2018 that Soundgarden had disbanded once again,though they did reunite in January 2019 for a one-off concert in tribute to Cornell.
Dire Straits were a British rock band formed in London in 1977 by Mark Knopfler,David Knopfler,John Illsley and Pick Withers. They were active from 1977 to 1988 and again from 1990 to 1995.
Full Moon Fever is the debut solo studio album by Tom Petty,released on April 24,1989,by MCA Records. It features contributions from members of his band the Heartbreakers,notably Mike Campbell,as well as Jeff Lynne,Roy Orbison,and George Harrison,Petty's bandmates in the Traveling Wilburys. The record shows Petty exploring his musical roots with nods to his influences. The songwriting is mainly collaborations between Petty and Lynne,who was also a producer on the album. Full Moon Fever became a commercial and critical success,peaking at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and being certified 5×platinum in the United States and 6×platinum in Canada.
David Knopfler is a British singer-songwriter. He was born in Scotland and raised in Newcastle upon Tyne,England,from the age of two. Together with his older brother Mark Knopfler,John Illsley,and Pick Withers,he founded the rock band Dire Straits in 1977,serving as rhythm guitarist on their first two albums. After quitting the band,Knopfler embarked upon a solo career as a recording artist. Knopfler initially created smaller record labels,publishing companies,and indie labels.
Schnell Fenster were a New Zealand rock band formed in Melbourne,Australia in 1986 by Noel Crombie on drums and percussion,Nigel Griggs on bass guitar and backing vocals,Phil Judd on lead vocals and guitar,and Eddie Rayner on keyboards and piano –who were all former members of New Zealand-formed rock group,Split Enz. Fellow founder,Michael den Elzen on lead guitar had worked with Tim Finn Band,another band formed by a Split Enz alumnus. Judd's band were briefly named The Wanx:but Rayner soon left and they changed their name to faux-German for "quick window",because it "appealed to [their] perversity". The group formed the core members of Noel's Cowards,a short-term ensemble,whose sole output was six tracks for the soundtrack of a feature film,Rikky and Pete,in 1988. Schnell Fenster released two studio albums,The Sound of Trees (1988) and Ok Alright a Huh Oh Yeah (1990),before disbanding in 1992. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1989 they were nominated for Breakthrough Artist –Album for The Sound of Trees,Breakthrough Artist –Single for "Whisper" and Best Cover Art for Judd's graphic art.
The Seeds of Love is the third studio album by British pop rock band Tears for Fears,released on 25 September 1989 by Fontana Records. It retained the band's epic sound while incorporating influences ranging from jazz and soul to Beatlesque pop. Its lengthy production and scrapped recording sessions cost over £1 million. Giant is an American melodic rock band that was formed in 1987. The band originally consisted of founding members Dann Huff and Alan Pasqua (keyboard),and had Dann's brother David Huff on drums and Mike Brignardello on bass. The Huff brothers were part of the founding members of the Christian rock band White Heart.
The Turn of a Friendly Card is the fifth studio album by the British progressive rock band The Alan Parsons Project,released in 1980 by Arista Records. The title piece,which appears on side 2 of the LP,is a 16-minute suite broken up into five tracks. The Turn of a Friendly Card spawned the hits "Games People Play" and "Time",the latter of which was Eric Woolfson's first lead vocal appearance. An edited version of the title piece combining the opening and ending parts of the suite was also released as a single along with an official video.

9012Live:The Solos is the third live album by English rock band Yes,released as a mini-LP on 7 November 1985 by Atco Records. Recorded during their 1984 world tour in support of their eleventh studio album,90125 (1983),the album features a selection of solo tracks performed by each of the five band members,plus live versions of two songs from 90125. The album was a companion release to the band's 1985 concert film,9012Live. In 2009,the album was reissued in Japan by Isao Kikuchi for Warner Music Japan,with two bonus tracks.
The Rakes were an English post-punk band formed in London in 2003. Their first album Capture/Release released in 2005,received a nine out of ten review in the NME and was rated 13th best album of the year in the same paper. The band cited in their influences the Specials,Siouxsie and the Banshees and Pulp.
Capture/Release is the debut album by The Rakes,released on 15 August 2005. The album peaked at number 32 on the UK. NME named it the 13th best album of 2005 and it received a generally positive critical response. It was released in the US on 18 April 2006 with the additional track "All Too Human".
"I Want It All" is a song by British rock band Queen,featured on their 1989 studio album,The Miracle. Written by guitarist and vocalist Brian May and produced by David Richards,it was released as the first single from the album on 2 May 1989. "I Want It All" reached number three on the singles charts of the United Kingdom,Finland,Ireland and New Zealand,as well as on the US Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. Elsewhere,it peaked at number two in the Netherlands and charted within the top 10 in Australia,Belgium,Germany,Norway and Switzerland. With its message about fighting for one's own goals it became an anti-apartheid protest song in South Africa.
Tokyo Blade are an English heavy metal band,active since 1982. Tokyo Blade is one of the many acts considered part of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) movement,which lasted from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. Tokyo Blade have been through many changes of formation and have disbanded twice,often changing their musical style during their years of activity. However,the band is still active,with most of the original members in the lineup.

The first single from the album—"We Danced Together"—was released on 12 March 2007,reaching number 38 on the British singles chart. The Hazards of Love is the fifth album by the American indie rock band The Decemberists,released through Capitol Records and Rough Trade in 2009. The album was inspired by an Anne Briggs EP titled The Hazards of Love. According to the band,frontman Colin Meloy had set out to write a song with the album's title,which eventually developed into an entire album.
