Korfbal Combinatie Capelle (KCC), also known under its sponsored name KCC/CK Kozijnen, [1] is a Dutch korfball and boules club located in Capelle aan den IJssel. The club was founded in 1999, from a merger of the korfball clubs AKV De Bermen and CKV De Kapellen.
The areligious AKV De Bermen was founded in 1963. [2] It became the largest korfball cub in members in the Rotterdam region. [3] By 1967, De Bermen already had 11 teams and a new clubhouse. [4]
The Christian CKV De Kapellen was founded on 4 June 1963 and stood out as a smaller korfball club. [5] Just before it merged and disappeared, it won the korfball cup of the Rotterdams Dagblad. [6]
On 1 July 1999, AKV De Bermen and CKV De Kapellen merged into Korfbal Combinatie Capelle (KCC). [7]
In 2017, KCC promoted for the first time to the top tier indoor Korfbal League. It relegated back to second tier in 2019, though not for long as in 2020 it returned to the Korfbal League. KCC was early on referred to as a candidate for the championship in the second league. [8]
In 2021 KCC finished dead-last, yet it was saved from relegation by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands. In the 2021–22 season, it was under the threat of losing an indoor facility, when their sports hall was needed for COVID-19 vaccinations. [9] In 2022–23, KCC's player, Bo Oppe, who also played on the Dutch national team, became the top scorer for the season of the Korfbal League. It sufficed only for a 7th place out of 10 for KCC, and no relegation games that year for KCC.
After Oppe left to the Papendrechtse Korfbalclub, KCC played a weak 2023–2024 season. [1] Finishing second to last, it played relegation games against promotion-hopeful KV TOP, which KCC won twice. [10] A third game was not necessary and KCC hence remained in the Korfbal League for 2024–2025. [10] [11] The amount of players leaving the club could potentially impact KCC's succes in the new season. [11]
Capelle aan den IJssel is a large town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of 67,319 in 2021, and covers an area of 15.40 km2 (5.95 sq mi), of which 1.26 km2 (0.49 sq mi) is water. Jan-Dirk Nijkamp is a Dutch sprint canoer who competed in the early 1990s. He competed for the Deventer Kano Vereniging. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, he was eliminated in the repechages of both the K-2 500 m and the K-2 1000 m event.
Alphense Boys is a football club based in Alphen aan de Rijn, South Holland, Netherlands. While coaching ASWH, he won the 2005 national amateur championship and the 2006 Rinus Michels Award for managers in nonprofessional leagues. During a long stint at BVV Barendrecht Van den Berg became a full-time coach. In 2015–2016 he coached the first squads of two small town rivals, promoting both ASWH to the Saturday Derde Divisie and IFC to the Sunday Hoofdklasse. From February until October 2018 he coached VV Katwijk, winning a Tweede Divisie championship.
