Dir is a region in northwestern Pakistan in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the foothills of the Himalayas. Before the independence of Pakistan, Dir was a princely state, and it remained so until 1969 when it was abolished by a presidential declaration, and the Dir District was created the following year. The area covers 5,280 square kilometres. In 1996 Dir district was officially divided into Lower Dir District and Upper Dir District.
Dir is a city in Upper Dir District, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan at an elevation of 1420 m. It is sometimes known as Dir Khas to distinguish it from the district. It lies at the foot of the Lowarai Pass, the main motor road to Chitral, on the Dir River, a tributary of the Panjkora River.
Lower Dir District is a district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Timergara city is the district headquarter but part of Central Dir District(Headquarter will be shift to own territory). The district was formed in 1996, when Dir District was divided into Upper Dir and Lower Dir. Recently, On 22 January 2023, Lower Dir District also bifurcated to create Central Dir District. The district borders Swat District on its East, Afghanistan on its West, Upper Dir and Chitral on its North and North-West respectively and Malakand and Bajaur Agency on its South.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cricket team is a domestic cricket team in Pakistan representing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. It competes in domestic first-class, List A and T20 cricket tournaments, namely the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan Cup and National T20 Cup. The team is operated by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cricket Association.
