Kwara Central senatorial district

Kwara Central senatorial district covering mainly the city of Ilorin is a metropolitan senatorial district of all the three in Kwara State. Kwara Central senatorial districts covers four local governments which include Asa, Ilorin East, Ilorin South and Ilorin West. Bukola Saraki, the President of the 8th National Assembly is from this district. [1] The current representative of Kwara Central senatorial district is Saliu Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress, APC. [2] [3]

Mohammed Alabi Lawal ; January 24, 1946 – November 15, 2006) was a Nigerian naval officer who was military governor of Ogun State between December 1987 and August 1990 during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was one of the pioneers of the Nigeria Navy Secondary School Abeokuta.The then Navy Captain Mohammed Lawal, invited the Nigerian Navy to consider a location of the defunct St Leo's Teachers' Training College at Ibara Abeokuta (www.nnssab.net)on a hilly Onikolobo site. This premises had been abandoned and merely serve as a route to the Catholic Compound and was also used for administering a newly conceived secondary school in that name. The Nigerian Navy considered the site and found it suitable. After the return to democracy in 1999 he was elected governor of Kwara State, holding office from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003.

Abdulfatah Ahmed is a Nigerian banker and politician. He is the former Governor of Kwara State.

The Ilorin Sallah stampede was a crowd crush that occurred at Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, North-central Nigeria on Eid al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan in 2013. The crush resulted in the death of 20 people and left several others severely injured. Four people died the first day, and 16 more over the next few days. The incident occurred on 16 October 2013 at Senator Bukola Saraki's house. Saraki is the two-term governor of Kwara State and the incumbent President of the Senate of Nigeria.

Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim was a Nigerian politician who was a senator from Kwara State. He represented Kwara South Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly. Kwara North senatorial district covers five local government areas which include Baruten, Edu, Pategi, Kaiama, Moro. Umar Suleiman Sadiq of the All Progressives Congress, APC is the current representative of Kwara North in the Nigerian Senate.

The 2019 Kwara State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. APC's AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq polled 73.12% of the total votes, ahead of PDP's Razak Atunwa who got 25.31% of votes trailing behind by a margin of 216,792 votes, and several minor party candidates. APC won in all 16 LGAs of the state.

The 2023 Kwara State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Kwara State, concurrent with elections to the Kwara State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Kwara State held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Kwara State. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe representing Kwara Central, Suleiman Sadiq Umar representing Kwara North and Yisa Oyelola Ashiru representing Kwara South all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

The 2019 Nigerian Senate election were held in all 109 senatorial districts where voters elected senators using first-past-the-post voting. Most elections were held on February 23, 2019, with some elections running into February 24 while others had supplementary or rerun elections that took place at a later date. The last regular senatorial elections for all districts were in 2015.

The 2007 Nigerian Senate election in Kwara State was held on April 21, 2007, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Kwara State. Simon Ajibola representing Kwara South, Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki representing Kwara Central and Ahmed Mohammed Inuwa representing Kwara North all won on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
