Kyle Israel (born August 25, 1985 in Orlando, Florida) was the starting college football quarterback for the UCF Knights football team at the University of Central Florida. He majored in radio/television at UCF. [1] He is a graduate of University High School. Currently, he plays for the Orlando Predators of the National Arena League. [2]

2006

Israel started for the UCF as a junior in 2006; he played in nine games [3] and threw for 1,420 yd (1,300 m) [3] [4]

2007

Israel completed 12 of 24 passing attempts [5] as he led the 2007 UCF Knights football team to a season-opening upset of North Carolina State; the victory was the program's second victory over a BCS opponent and the first time the Knights defeated a BCS school since 2000. [6]

On September 15, 2007, he started for the first football game held on the UCF campus in the new Bright House Networks Stadium. The game was against the number-six ranked 2007 Texas Longhorns, the highest ranked team ever faced by the Knights. [7] Israel completed 35% of his passes for a total of 133 yd (122 m) and the Knights lost a back-and-forth game by the score of 35–32. [8] [9]

The UCF Knights are the athletic teams that represent the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. The Knights participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I as a member of the American Athletic Conference. UCF was invited to join the Big 12 Conference on September 10, 2021, and accepted the invitation later that day. It is anticipated the Knights could join as soon as the 2023–24 athletic year pending negotiation of departure terms with the American Athletic Conference.

The 2007 UCF Knights football team represented the University of Central Florida in the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Their head coach was George O'Leary. The 2007 season was the first year the Knights played all of their home games at Bright House Networks Stadium, which they had just opened on the main campus of UCF in Orlando, Florida. In addition, the team changed its nickname from "Golden Knights" back to simply "Knights." From 1979 to 1992, the team had been known as the Knights, then changed to "Golden Knights" from 1993 until 2006.

War on I-4 Rivalry between the South Florida Bulls and UCF Knights

The War on I-4 is a college rivalry between the University of Central Florida Knights and University of South Florida Bulls. The rivalry is best known for its college football matchup which originated in a series of football games played from 2005 to 2008 and now takes place on Thanksgiving weekend, the de facto "rivalry weekend" for FBS football. In 2013, when UCF joined the American Athletic Conference, the schools began competing annually in all sports. In 2016, the schools officially adopted the "War on I-4" as an official competition series. Each year, the team with the most wins across all sports receives a gold trophy styled after an Interstate 4 (I-4) road sign with the logos of each school. The winner of the annual football game also receives a similar trophy.

George OLeary American football coach and college athletics administrator

George Joseph O'Leary is a former American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 1994 to 2001 and the UCF Knights from 2004 to 2015. He was hired in 2001 to be the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish but resigned after five days for lying on his resume. O'Leary was an assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL) from 2002 to 2004, and an assistant coach for the Syracuse Orange and San Diego Chargers.

The 1996 UCF Golden Knights football season was the eighteenth season for the team and Gene McDowell's twelfth as the head coach of the Golden Knights. McDowell's 1996 team compiled a 5–6 overall record. The season marked UCF's first as a member of Division I-A, officially joining on September 1, 1996. At that time, the Knights became the first football program to play in four different NCAA divisions.

1997 UCF Golden Knights football team American college football season

The 1997 UCF Golden Knights football season was the nineteenth overall season for the team, and second season as an NCAA Division I-A Independent. It would be the thirteenth and final season for head coach Gene McDowell. McDowell's 1997 team finished with a 5–6 overall record, matching the record from the previous season. McDowell would resign at season's end in the wake of a cell phone fraud scandal. His tenure as head coach came to a close after compiling an 86–61 record. To-date, McDowell still has the most wins as head coach in program history.

The 1998 UCF Golden Knights football season was the twentieth season for the team and Mike Kruczek's first as the head coach of the Golden Knights. Kruczek led UCF to its best season at the time with a 9–2 record in 1998. Daunte Culpepper finished 6th in the Heisman Trophy voting and set the NCAA record for completion percentage that year (73.4%).

The 1999 UCF Golden Knights football season was Mike Kruczek's second year as the head coach of the Golden Knights. Looking to build on the success of a nine-win season the year before, the Knights visited five high-profile opponents. Kruczek led UCF to an overall record of 4–7. With the departure of Daunte Culpepper to the NFL Draft, the quarterback duties were taken over by college journeyman Vic Penn. On two occasions, the Golden Knights nearly upset a major SEC opponent on the road.

After defeating the defending Division II national champions Troy State in week 3, the Knights jumped to No. 2 in the nation, a spot they held for three consecutive weeks. The Knights faltered, however, and lost five of their last six games. McDowell's 1988 Knights finished the season with a 6–5 overall record and missed the Division II playoffs.

Franco Grilla is a former American football placekicker who played three seasons in the Arena Football League with the Albany Firebirds and Orlando Predators. He played college football at the University of Central Florida and attended Piper High School in Sunrise, Florida. He was also a member of the Birmingham Barracudas of the Canadian Football League.

2017 UCF Knights football team American college football season

The 2017 UCF Knights football team represented the University of Central Florida in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Knights played their home games at the newly renamed Spectrum Stadium in Orlando, Florida, and competed in the East Division of the American Athletic Conference. They were led by second year head coach Scott Frost.
